Title: Muffler
Post by: bbeane on November 21, 2019, 04:33:27 pm
I have looked thru some of the old posts about replacing the muffler with a resonator. Has any one done a 99-2000 u295 with the trash can muffler? Does anyone have detailed pictures?  Thinking about just a straight pipe for now.

Here's mine, although I modified it just a bit this week..  it is louder but I can't hear it in the drivers seat going down the highway.. I didn't take any pics  yet of the small change I made yesterday....  I'm happy with it.. it's on a 2000 U320

Bruce this is where I got all my parts in Yuma when I did my muffler conversion except the resonator, older guy easy to deal with. Sells the flex and straight pipe by the foot and all the elbows and clamps you will need.

Here are a couple of mine.  The elbow with U-bolt is attached to the old anchor point that the muffler used (I removed the large bracket).  I also attached some insulation and an aluminum shield to protect the A/C.

Yes it is a jones 5050xl, got it on amazon if I remember right $81 at the time. I have made a change cause the place that installed it didn't have it exactly I wanted it. I added a piece of flex off the turbo pipe to get the resonator to run parallel with the outer fiberglass of the coach and added a hanger , I'll get a pic tomorrow

Mine is a 5050xl in my U295. I'm pleased. Much smaller than the trash can.

Is this the trash can type? It's what was on my 97 8.3.

Bruce did Peter's this summer, gets some no blaster and spray the nuts on top of the muffler. His clamps were rusty so I cut them with a sawzall.call Peter and get his parts list.
