Left the Elks Lodge in Del Rio, Texas this morning heading west on US90- Arizona bound. Our next planned stop is Marathon to sit out the storm for a day. Under 200 miles- piece of cake right?-NO. Climbing hills was slower, kinda expected that then heard the ding, missed the light because it was quick and sun was shining on dash. Watching for light as more dinging was happening and my speed decreasing with my foot into it now. Pulled off the roadside rest- time to change fuel filters ( last was in March or April). Changed primary, started up fine, was getting close to Marathon and stupid blood pressure meds make me dizzy doing things under the coach in weird positions, so I decided to go ahead with 1 filter changed, It made a difference, but still getting dinging and light- secondary filter up high on the engine needs to be changed. Made it to Marathon campground, checked in, hooked up, I went to see if I could hire someone to change my secondary filter. Mike, who is workkamping here came over and changed it for me, wouldn't take a dime or a $20.00 bill. No problem, he and his wife are coming over to see our Foretravel this evening and we are supplying the wine. This shows there are lots of great people out there.
This is why I always carry at least 2 or 3 sets of fuel filters with me- either I will change them or have them changed. Having the right ones in the middle of nowhere is priceless.
The coach ran great after starting and running on high idle for a few minutes after changing secondary filter. Hopefully that was the issue, will find out in a couple days on the next leg of our journey.
Cya down the road ^.^d
Having an engine monitor like Roger sells should give you boost pressure and fuel pressure at the injection pump. I have a Pro-Link 9000 on our Detroit and it's really handy to see any potential problem right from the driver's seat.
In removing spin on filters, fuel, oil or air dryer, this strap wrench will do the trick with a 1/2" ratchet. It WILL remove a 6 inch spin-on air dryer where the garden varieties won't. The chain type are OK but will leave marks on the filter if you just want to check for the white powder. All for less than $7 delivered.

Thanks Pierce- I have a VMSPC already and saw no indication of boost loss nor the fuel pressure variations until I started getting the alarm. I was climbing a lot so I was not concerned about slowing down until it got to the point I was slowing on level ground. The diagnostic field showed unusual fuel pressure so it indicated fuel filters.
I have a strap wrench and a pliers filter wrench that work fine. It is being on my back and trying to get up at times that makes me dizzy from the meds. Of course it could have been the excitement of the event too- who knows.
Today sitting in the coach watching it rain outside while we are nice and toasty. Had a great evening with our new friends last night and he is so impressed with our coach he is talking about getting one after their house sells. ^.^d
