Finally finished up the (exterior) re-do of the TV cabinet above the driver seat.
I used the cabinet doors from the small table in the living room, added a sound-bar, and created a central place for our non-entertainment center electronic devices.
Sound-bar is in the cabinet, but not as flush as I wanted with the cabinet doors, so I built a frame and covered it with speaker fabric.
We probably will add a shelf above the sound-bar later, but need access to the outlets/wires for another project.
Note: we removed the original OEM Bose sound system that was SHOT and now use this Bose sound-bar to give sound to our SiriusXM for travel days and general music playing.
Nice job! We are working on ours as well and going to use the space to place our manuals for the coach! Idea stolen from Chris Lang! At least it is warm were you two should be now, it is 31 and dropping here tonight. Brrrrrr!
A few photos of the tear out and what I ran into with this TV box. They built the thing to withstand a nuclear bomb! :o Removed over 40 screws and about 20 lbs of wood! Also removed all the old falling insulation behind the cabinets. What a mess!

Joe, Mine did not have the metal with 3 pieces in your last pic. it only had the metal coming up to each side and a wood piece screwed to it. That is where I put the 1/4 in cabinet grade plywood to keep books from falling forward.

Joe, I'm looking to do something similar.. Did you build the doors or buy them in Nachogdoches? It cranes my neck watching tv that high. I'm after some kind of drop down fold up or something to get my tv closer to dash level but I want it up and out of the way when not watching... Dub
There are mounts for tv ceiling drop and flip up.
There are the tv elevators.
There are tv swing mounts.
As the new tvs are light overall, but w x h can pose a problem. Designing what works can result in a design that a good fabrication shop could make. Or self make. Intresting! I haven't removed the 2 oem tvs in my U270 yet but have purchased units to replace them.
Dub; the doors were left overs from removing the small cabinet on the passenger side of the coach when we installed our electric recliners. I do have 2 more doors available, but they are larger and longer and would not work with what I was trying to do. May bring them to the Q if someone is interested in them. Can take a few measurements as well.

What I want is what you have.. Could the doors be cut down to fit with reasonable effort? I know that's speculation without my measurements.. I have the stock 270 tv cabinet but will measure tomorrow. I've thought of glass but lean more to wood doors.

Joe, you could have drove over here and round trip would have been around 300.00 in fuel and you would have saved possibly 20.00. But, hay what you are doing will look good when finished.

Dub, I won't say it can't be done, but it gets pretty difficult, And if doors were horizontal and you want to make them vertical the rails and styles will look odd. I was going to try that with a set that I had but they were horizontal doors and I needed vertical.

Dub, the doors are vertical doors and yes, cutting them down can be done. Shoot your measurements over to me and I will see how close these doors are for your needs. Like I said, I can bring them to Quartzite.

Just finished my project. Came out ok. I just moved the center door to the left and left the center open for now. My plan is a 55 inch OLED tv on a lift across from the jacknife sofa on a electric lift. Don't want or need a tv above my head. That is a April project.
I took the entire wood surround off. After changing the clearance lights to LEDs and sound and heat proofing the cap, out in ozite carpet in. Looks 100 % better. Not factory perfect, but good enough for me for now.

Have had decent luck staining from light to dark but not so much dark to light.. I have oak cabinets Juiceman. Still going to measure today.
Joe, don't take the doors to Quartzite just because of me, to get a decent measurement I need to take my TV down and that takes a bit more than I can get to seems like. Will pass some ideas at you when we get there and I will try and get my mind settled on what works and looks best for my situation and light colored oak wood.
