Title: Heated basement or heated floors
Post by: 18360 on December 21, 2019, 06:40:41 am
We want to replace our flooring.  We were considering putting in a heated floor.
But i was thinking would it be easier to put some type of heating element in the bays below instead.
Has anyone done either of these and which would be more practical.

Yours has an aquahot?  That should keep the basement warm when it's running and allow some heat to come through the floor.
There are electric pad types that install under flooring, just make sure the flooring is rated for them.  I installed one in a previous coach in the bathroom.  Very nice to have a warm floor on a cold morning.  Don't remember the brand but there are many others available now.  I think Rudy did one recently?

Rick,

Our A/H piping keeps our floor warm everywhere except the bedroom and around the drivers area. Putting heaters in the basement won't help these areas any more than the A/H piping as there is no basement in these areas. If you want the floors warm in the bedroom the floor heating elements are your best option. When we put in new Bamboo flooring we opted for not putting in floor heating pads in the bedroom. You can sure tell where the basement starts when you go from the bedroom to the bathroom in the temp of the floor in real cold weather.
