What do you use?
Don't like mine, the bayonet fittings come undone easily.
Like that Lippert 359724 Waste Master 20' Extended RV Sewer Hose Management System with its cam lock. Anyone ever use it on our coaches? Not sure if it will fit well for long term use.
They are pricey but look well made.
Be interested in what you guys and girls use to empty the tanks.
Bob
I ordered the wrong hose originally .. Camco orange colored one... took old fitting from the chute and used the heat gun and made it work.. now I can crunch it up real easy and stow in the original holder in the bay.. bought another one so I can get to the long runs with no issue.. almost professional now..
I have the Waste Master set up as does Don. Look for his post on how he set his up. It is much nicer than the way mine is at this time. Can't beat the hose and nozzle for durability.
X2 Craneman, I have the Lippert Waste Management and in my mind it can't be beat
Great. Like the design but not sure if it would fit.
I also use the Lippert and really like it. No more leaks. No way to fit it in the factory storage pipe. I got rid of that and installed PVC pipe running fore and aft. Works great.

For your information their is a tool that you can buy that will drill out the inside of the existing connector so you can fit it in the same space as I have done.. if you are interested let me know and I will give you information .

The clearance is tight, but it can be done if your wetbay has enough room between the partition and the compartment door to install the female camlock fitting with enough room to allow the hose to turn down 90º and exit with the door latched. Of course that only applies if you wish to leave the hose connected rather than just bringing the hose out to dump. In my installation of the Wastemaster hose, I can close the compartment and latch it, but if there was any less room then there is in our 99' U270, I would have had to develop another approach. Here is a link to one of my topics which has some info on doing this kind of conversion.

Nice Don.
My issue is when they redid the basement, instead of a drop down door to access the wetbay, a round screw in deck plate access hatch was installed. But maybe it will be good to build a proper access hatch instead.

Bob, you need to get stainless steel wool and get rid of all that rust as well as the critters.
SS or bronze wool-- either works well and will not rust.
I use different hoses and connectors than most have posted.

I've been using the above hoses and adapters for 13 years, 10 of them full timing. The hoses last me 3 - 4 years before pinholes appear, under full timer use.

I don't buy the kit because the ends will not allow storage in the stock storage tube location, and two ea 15' hoses give me 30' reach if needed.
The ones I linked, you remove the end that goes into the campground receptacle, and then the hose stores in stock location. And the connectors to combine 2 hoses, and for the ground end connector are very easy and fast to install and remove (tapered design).
Most of the time one 15' hose is enough. The second 15' hose I connect together using the hose connector. No spillage when connected and placed in a tub in another storage bay.
Yes. I have a big roll of stainless steel just need to switch some out.
I prefer the 45 degree ( clear ) elbo on the coach end of the hose. That way I can see immediately what's coming out when I'm back flushing the black tank. And the 45 is more manageable in storage than a larger 90 degree would be.
We use camco cause Murphy happens and lots of places have replacement stuff.
First thing I thought when I saw that photo. "OMG, That guy REALLY NEEDS a sewer hose. ;D
Its rust from steel wool. Old photo as well.
Don read with interest your post from 5 years ago when you did your utility bay project. I am at the beginning of that. I'm not sure that the way my hole is for the waste hose that it will work, but want to use this wastemaster hose. I am thinking of cutting back, removing the third valve, and putting a remote third valve behind the cover which will give me some clearance to install this thing.
I am also installing the Glendinning HoseMaster Model M freshwater hose reel, and the new Glendinning CRMA 50 foot (https://www.glendinningprods.com/products/cablemaster/crra-50/) cable master cord.
I will probably replace all three valves since they look like they will need it soon. Not looking forward to this but it needs to be done.
Will have to drain my tanks first, and I have some clean outs at home that I will be able to drain to. Don't want to have to do this once on the road full time.
Really like the finish of your completed project. Not sure mine will be quite as nice but as long as its functional, i'm good with that.
Did you use stainless or aluminum plate in your project?
Thanks
Bob
I used a mixture of 22 gauge stainless steel sheet cut to size from a place called IMS (Industrial Metal Supply). I supplied them a cut sheet listing the sizes I wanted. I asked for 26 gauge and they weren't happy with the cuts, so they offered me 22 gauge for the same price. It was easier for their shear to cut the thicker material cleanly. Funny thing was that they gave me the 26 gauge material with its slightly less than perfect cuts for free along with the 22 gauge material that I paid for at the 16 gauge price. I ended up using a mixture of 22 and 26 gauge. The gauge panel and the part that holds the power receptacle, dump valves etc., is 22 gauge. The part that lines the walls and covers the slanted part of the tanks is 26 gauge. I am still doing projects with the leftovers from that job.
Since this basement replacement was done without the notch, maybe you can make another hole where it will work better. Have you used a magnet to locate the framing under the fiberglass? If there is an area that is large enough to make a new useable hole without hitting the framing... well, you do have an opportunity for some creative problem solving. For one thing, not having a notch means you will have to disconnect the hose each time, but that is the way of most campers anyway. But since the camlock takes up a certain amount of space, the problem for you will be to make a 90º bend towards the outlet. Maybe angling the camlock by using 22.5º ABS elbow... Anyway, I am sure you will be able to make it work somehow. Where there is a will, there is way. ^.^d
It is all worth it in the end, I pat myself on the back every time I have to dump, hook or unhook the coach. It is now as close to a painless process as possible. Good luck!
Don
Don , looking at post 8 pic have you combined your black and grey tanks?
Chris
Never mind I went back and looked again and see both handles
Thanks Don for that explanation of your project. Yes the notch would be great and solve a lot of my issues.
Lining the wet bay in stainless steel would look really good but I think I'm just going to stick to white paint. Right now my water tanks exposed on both sides and actually kind of like it cuz I can see at a glance how much water is in the tank but a cleaner more finished look would be nicer. I'm not really sure though in the long run if it's as big of an issue with the waist pipe as I think it is. Since it's never a good idea to run waste right out the hose, and better to let it build up in the tank and empty it intermittently, I probably really never need or want to have the hose hooked up all the time. The time will tell I guess.
When DW is doing washing we open the grey water valve but never the black. always let black build up since liquids will outrun solids you could wind up with a tank full of poo and no way to get it out!!!
Chris
Bob,
Just to be clear, when I say leaving it hooked up, I am referring to the camlock connector on the coach. The hose is generally stowed in this position for travel, though The entire hose assembly will easily fit in the space below the reels. I just grab the business end when I want to dump and unscrew my homemade ABS cap from the free end of the hose. When done dumping and all valves are closed, I collapse the hose and screw on the cap. The cap I made prevents any dripping. The hose itself contains a ball valve, but though I close it, there would still be some dripping without the cap unless you let it drain awhile. In my opinion, they should have included a cap for the end of the hose, but... still, I wouldn't have any other hose. Here is a picture of how I usually travel with it as well as with the hose unhooked and stowed, which I never bother to do as the outside of the hose remains sanitary. Every once in awhile, I stretch the hose out to its full 20' length and wipe it down before I put it away. Occasionally, I will rig it with a sewer hose support when we are staying somewhere with full hookups and Tys wants to catch up on laundry, but mostly, I just take it out to dump and put it away in the travel position. As I have often repeated, much of what I did on the utility compartment was facilitated by the fact that I already had everything apart for the bulkhead/basement repair. Lemons and lemonade and all that...
Don
Don, I like it! That's really efficient.
Will see if I can make something like that in my space. Will have to build a shelf and mount the reels to it.
How do you like your glendinning hose reels?
I too am tired of leaking connections and continually replacing the clear short connections from Camco. And so I always have read the threads on the Wastmaster which most buyers seem to like. My problem is this, I like to dump and refill my black and grey tank a few times when dumping, using the Flush King. Is there a way to leave the Wastemaster connected and still have a clear short connection with something similar to the Flush King?
Jack,
Not a direct answer, but I use my third valve and flush the black tank with gray water two or three times dumping. The clear plastic section at the business end of the wastemaster is clear after the second gray water flush. I generally only dump the gray when we get above 90% in order to insure a pretty thorough flush. On the last flush I leave in between 10 & 20% gray water in the black tank to keep any solids from taking root, close the black and leave the gray open until it is empty then close the gray and finally the 3rd valve. The whole process takes less than 5 minutes and keeps things running clear. Of course, I started with a pressure washed clean set of tanks when I had them out of the coach. Best part is, I don't have to waste any potable water to flush the tanks, though I still could if I wanted to.
Don
Until I install a third valve, I use the valve on the Waste Master as a third valve. Not quite as good as being right at the tank, but still lets me put a couple of grey water cycles into the black tank.
I have been looking through files and haven't found anything on the Valterra water emazerator (for lack of a better term. Valterra 10-Foot Sewer Solution Kit, Universal Sewer Hose for RV Camper, Includes one 10' drain hose (OD 1.1"), pump head, sewer adapter, quick connect, and anti siphon valve
by Valterra
Has anyone ever used this and what is their opinion if any
This was a link on amazon
Thanks
Chris
I have a Sewer solution kit (bought before Valterra bought them) and have used it at a spot where I had a 40' run to the sewer connection. Works ok but uses a lot of water to keep the flow going. Occasionally TP plugs the hose and you have to run water again to get the flow going again. It's a cheaper maintenance free version of a macerator. But don't expect to pump uphill unless you have a good stream of water pushing it the entire time. And you need to keep an eye on it once you get the waste flowing in case it stops.
Folivier, I was wondering what water pressure you would need to make it function properly
Thanks
Chris
Chris, My Sewer Solution works fine on 40 psi and has for years. Anytime I am dumping the black tank, the water jet is on and I am monitoring the drain.
With all my projects that I've been working on over the last year I still haven't gotten around to doing the waste master hose yet. I have taken apart the black and gray tank side housings and found it kind of a mess inside. I need to take my Coach soon to get the tanks emptied out and cleaned out and then I can replace all three of my blade valves clean up underneath it really well and install the new sewer connection. I have a black tank rinse on the Wall of the wet bay but it doesn't work. I bought a new one but I haven't installed it yet until I drain the tanks. I think it's just clogged up. When I took everything apart I found that when they installed it the part that you hook up to a hose was lower than the part that was in the tank, which meant a dirty water always was in the hose between the tank and the connection. I don't like that idea so when I redo it my plan is to raise up the connection so it's at the top that way all the water will drain into the tank when you disconnect the hose.
Still scratching my head about how to install my hose reels in the wet bay. I don't have the space in my coach with the new glendinning 50 amp reel to do a really nice job like other people have done. It's a big reel and there's just not enough room. The only way to put in the water reel is to push it all the way back next to the tank and then put the electric wheel in front. I really don't like that idea I wanted them side by side where I could access them easily but in my case it is just not going to happen. If my water hose reel gets jammed up I'm going to have a hard time getting back there to unjam it.
I thought about putting it in the access hatch where the muffler used to be But without significant modifications it just wouldn't work. The space is there but there's no good mounting area. That would be a good spot for it though, you could run the wire underneath the coach without ever having to worry about a access hatch. Although I expect that cord would get a lot of road debris, water, mud etc on it so maybe that's not really a good place to put it.
Wastemaste Camlock is great! Wish I had done it sooner! I even put the electronic valves in, but they gave me some trouble and out they came....I said to myself, keep it simple stupid! The people at Wastemaster are awesome to work with!
The camlock was a tight fit on my 96' U295, but Keith Risch didn't disappoint! He fanagled a way for it to work. He had to notch out a little recess in the divider wall from wet area to cord storage in that bay. For the "ear of the cam lock" to work fully.
I'll try to get a get picture if I'm at the coach today, which I hope I am to install a new ShadePro dash pad and hangout in it.
The camlock is tight on my 320 also. I have to flip the one opposite the wall first to remove and install. My electric valves that came on the coach are still working trouble free. Hope I haven't jinxed that one.
When I installed mine, I shortened the camlock dogs by about ½" so that the one close to the compartment wall will clear. A bit less leverage, but I do the one closest to the wall first because the first cam thrown locks easily, and the second one though harder has clear access. Not really an issue for me anyway since I seldom disconnect the hose. Attached is a picture of the hose as I typically stow it.

I use the Thetford Titan RV Sewer Hose Kit - 15' 17853 going on 5 years now with no hassle. Still like new. But then, I never connect it till I'm ready to dump. Then it goes back into storage. Same with the water hose. I only use it to fill the tank.
