We are wanting to repair a couple of the sliding window screens that have been damaged but have been unable to locate the correct size of spline. We have taken a piece of the old spline to Lowes, Home Depot, Ace, window and door repair places, and even called Foretravel but have had no luck. The spline is very thin with a solid core and none of the places we have tried has anything near that small.
Does anyone know what the correct size of spline is for these window screens and/or where we could possibly find some. The smallest diameter I've seen is a .090 but that was online so I couldn't compare it to ours.
Thank you
Tyler
Tyler,
You can try RV & Auto Parts store online. They have a selection of screen spline.
Do you have a way of measuring the diameter of the old spline? You also need to take into consideration the age of the material and it's been compressed for a long time.

Can you re-use the old spline?
For reference most weed eater string is .095.
You can try this place. I have gotten screen parts from them before.

You might also try Swisco (https://www.swisco.com/cl/Spline)
I ordered spline and other miscellaneous parts for storm windows and sliding door repairs for the house.
We could have if we hadn't cut them to take for reference. Real dumb move on our part haha.
The spline doesn't have to be continuous, you can still use what you have until you get the right replacement.
This is our spline compared to a 9/64 and 3/32 drill bit. It's very close in diameter to the 3/32, all my bits in between the two have disappeared so i can't compare to them ha.

Inexpensive vernier calipers or micrometer at Harbor Freight will remove guesswork.
And don't take up much room.
Excellent find! I'm going to say it's the 0.098" or 3/32 diameter EPDM spline. According to the article its a "hard to find" spine but they have it in 25' lengths for $25.39. Now that I have the size I'll do some shopping around.
Thanks
I got enough to do our coach screen door from Ace Hardware. They had it in stock.
Tyler,
While searching make sure you purchase the correct size roller tool for the spline you purchase.
John M.
Try Lowes for the spline. I saw many sizes, very reasonably prices.
