We are pleased with our upgraded televisions. We have had a 24" Samsung in the bedroom for about three years and enjoy the significantly-larger screen compared to the 19" flat screen we had previously. We just replaced the 26" flat screen in the living room with a 40" Vizio V-series and are definitely enjoying the much-larger screen. With the DirecTV distant-network package we seem to have all of the comforts of home in our cabin-on-wheels!
Did you install it in front of the old TV cabinet? Or did you remove/rebuild the cabinet?
If in front, watch your head, it will get you..
D.J., what is Direct TV Distant Network?
I attached it to the front of the original TV cabinent so that we still have the full use of the front cabinents (where various electronics are located). Yes, there is definitely a head-banging risk, but it's minimal and my head always seems to find things to hit even if they're not really easy to find!
DNS is an add on cost, $15/month last I checked, so that you can get major TV network feeds from LA or NYC. Or you can call DirecTV (877-407-4720) from wherever you are and change your Service Address for free so that you get all of the local TV channels. We are in Orange Beach, AL for a month and we get all of Mobile's channels. When we are in AZ we get Tucson or Phoenix local channels almost everywhere in AZ.
It takes a bit of time to do so we don't do it every time we stop but for a longer time stops we do.
We get all of PBS, CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, CW and more on our Amazon 4K Fire TV stick as well as all of Amazon, Netflix, ESPN and much more content streaming. Most of it is "free". And we can get all of DirecTV streaming as well. Most of Amazon content is 4K whick looks pretty good on our 40" 4K Samsung TV up front.
Are you watching the new Picard Star Trek series on CBS AllAccess? Wonderful.
You can provide DirecTV your RV license registration and complete the application to receive either eastern or western network channels which are on a nationwide-coverage satellite. Very nice to have available wherever you travel.
I was inspired and did the same (40" Vizio). I installed it on a swinging TV mount to allow it to be moved to the corner. I did cut the TV cabinet all the way back to the side cabinets (about 6") to get a little head clearance. While I was in there, removed all the old insulation behind the cabinets and installed DynaMat. Also, enlarged the right side cabinet depth.
