Title: What did you do to your coach today?
Post by: jor on February 21, 2020, 10:52:45 am
Can I bring up a pet peeve. Posting great tech information in the what-did-you-do forum sucks. It makes future searches on that topic difficult. Thanks. I feel better.

I completely agree! I would really appreciate seeing separate threads in order to facilitate future searches for useful information.

AND, please think carefully about the title of the thread.  Make it something logical that someone else might use as a "search parameter".

I agree completely.

It was originally meant (and still is) to be a non-technical , Fire Ring topic, but lots of folks use it more like FB as a catch-all.  It creates a lot of work for moderators to pull stuff out of that topic and give it a dedicated one, which is why that doesn't happen much anymore.

Happy to lock it if that's what everyone wants  :)

Now that the Joey Bed is working, I'm changing some of the storage around. The compressor has always been a pain to get in and out, but just now, found a perfect spot for it: roadside rear bay, just fits where the curbside JB ends. Never has to be moved again. It's ALMOST like Brett planned for my needs with power right there!  b^.^d

Tough call,
If the title of the post is relevant, it is still good to have that topic in my opinion, rather than putting it in tech talk for something like washing the coach, etc.

I think if it is a simple one post then post it in what I did thread.  If more then a simple one post and people ask questions how did you do that, post more pictures or anything more then the first simple post then who has the questions should ask the author of the post to start a new one with the details.

I can see the what I did thread still good for "I washed the coach with new pressure washer" or  got a new window cover, new floor, or new whatever. If you do a search for pressure washer or window cover it will still come up with the What thread.

I agree with the above: my feeling is if it's just a simple comment with no need to post it on the other forums, fine.  In one of my 3-ring binders, there's a notation from the PO: "January 8th, polished wheels." That fits here.  ^.^d

And it's easy to do this!

Using "More" at the bottom right of a post, hover and click "New Topic".  It will even quote the text of the post in question (be sure to edit down to the relevant bits - you non-clippers know who you are ;-) )

Give the new topic a (meaningful) title and select the appropriate board (tech, discussions, renovation) and take the meat of the discussion there.

That was always the intent of those topics in Fire Ring - not to be the technical or how-to discussion but instead the fun "at least I did something kind of coach related" more social type of post.
