A good explanation why 30 & 50 amp GFCI campground outlets do not work and should not be implemented.

The 2020 NEC has decided that GFI protection for the 30 & 50A receptacles that are to feed RV's will NOT have to be GFI protected.  I had asked the question that any RV park that was built during the 2017 NEC code cycle could now go back and remove the GFI protection. The answer I got was NO.  If I had an RV park that was wired to the 2017 NEC I would go to the AHJ and ask them to give you permission to go and remove the GFI protection to the 30& 50A outlets if they have been giving you fits.

For those who are not familiar with the term "AHJ" it is the acronym for "Authority Having Jurisdiction."
