Title: Ever play Whackamole
Post by: ratbug on March 23, 2020, 11:26:46 pm
Incredible as it seems,to me. I have my coach back from the land of frustration.....

Decided last fall to do some preventative maintenance on our "Bertha".  Rebuild, clean, replace O-Rings in the front six pack. "Kit was perfect".
I proceeded to carefully Label all the wiring disconnects  1-1,  2-2 and so forth with duct tape and marker.  All went well on the bench, pretty simple, need some force applied to a couple to disassemble, but all went well.  Reinstalled aluminum block.    Dang it,  Right rear bags would not inflate at all and the front wasn't quite right, the front would raise to full height, but only lower the left side when pressing the right side lower.
I preceded to disassemble all the parts I had touched to Find out WTH happened..... it was all just fine.      So, long story short,  medical issues, couple of hospital stays, new blood thinners, etc etc,    Weeks and months went by between half hearted attempts to decipher my affliction......  as chance would have it my front six pack had a solenoid failure, as well as the rear six pack had a failed Solenoid.  Both units working just fine before preventative maintenance began...... and of course  I had somehow mis-labeled the wiring for the raise and travel solenoids and even reversed right to left the "raise" units......    what did I learn?
        1.  Even small amounts of spirits should be avoided before labeling multiple identical wiring connections.                                  2.If you remove plastic coverings back far enough, virtually every wire on our machines have labels or numbers identified.      3. Solenoids fail in pairs at opposite ends of vehicle so as to cause as much confusion as possible.😳.      It was so satisfying to take Bertha out for a spin after suffering through all the self inflicted drama.

New air Bags, shocks, and partially rebuilt six pack... next project fuel lines... surely these can't  be mislabeled.

My sister had a small mole on the left side of her face and our mother used to whack her-with her right hand-- on that side. Does that count as Whackamole? :))
