We're beginning research for our new coach and of course I have lots of questions. I'm pretty certain we like the 2001 -2004 U320 series of coaches, 38, 40, or 42. We're leaning towards the larger coaches simply for more basement storage. My question is this:
1) What are advantages/disadvantages of the east/west vs north/south beds? It seems the later designs seemed to use the east/west layout more often?
2) I also read some comments on this forum about a king sized bed in the east/west layout? Is this possible?
3) Does either layout favor engine access or serviceability?
Thanks
Sam
I have had both and like the east west better. It slept better and there was no closet pressed into the side of the bed if you had to sleep with the slide in.
I like the north/west bed for easy access to the eng.
In my 42 foot I had the same access as the back was a closet that had the floor lift up on a hing. It was the same size as the bed access.
We have had both. Our current 42' 2003 coach has the east west configuration and it seems more livable. The closet all across the back in the 42' is wonderful. Also the bed isn't getting all the engine heat quite like the NS configuration does when you pull over and want to sleep right away. We don't do that as much as we did when we were younger and driving at night more. That said, the engine access seems much better with the bed lifting up on the NS. That hasn't been a problem for this one however.
