Hooked my 20 foot cargo trailer up and I have no lights, brakes or signals. I do have 12 volts. When I crawled under, the previous owner pulled a toad and it has a digital box wired into the pigtail. I don't need this, Can I remove and wire back to a standard trailer wire setup. I'm not familiar with these boxes or their color codes
Yes, you can change back, cutting out the box and splicing back the wires, using a wiring diagram from a source like eTrailer and a simple multimeter or a 12v test light. Pretty easy to get readings for tail, brake, and each turn signal, running new wire between the orig rv wires and 7 way connector.
What you have now in that box is most likely a 2 to 3 converter box like the following, or a 3 to 2 wiring converter box. If it is marked by the mfg or part number you should be able to Google a schematic.

This should answer your questions.

This is what I used, which made it easy, installing a new plug on the rv. It comes with the color coded wiring diagram.
