Title: more help console removal and underneath lights

tell me how to remove the console on my u270 2001 ft i have a screw in the back removed and the console acts like it glued to wall i want to fix the light in the toggle switches

part 2 have a switch by passenger seat says under lights i presume that would be for the step area but where is or was the light it blows a fuse everytime i turn on

alot to learn and fix the small stuff

Hi Brian, Console means many things to different folks. What are you trying to get apart?

on drivers left side are the rocker switches for dock light curtains mirror control map lights and has the transselector on it too also has the hwh leveling pad would like to get under it to remove rockers to put new light in them

Brian, you can remove the HWH panels and reach in and under to get at the switches.  A very thin prybar, maybe a small spatula can slip under the front or rear edge of the switches ot press on and release the tabs that hold the switch in place.  These switches are old and the plastic is brittle so use care. 

I have not taken the entire panel off, I think there are threaded studs on the back of it and nuts.  Maybe someone else knows.

If yours is similar to a 99 you just remove the screws and pull it right up. Good time to replace all your bulbs. Very annoying to look down there and see one not lighted.

Same here as Jor. Just  remove the screws and pull up. Lot of wiring in there so be careful.

The 2001 U320 panel has no screws.  The OP's 2001 U270 may be the same.  Feels like threaded studs on the back of the plate with nuts.

Does the Allison pad snap in place or does it have backside studs as well?

ok folk went to work on the rockers there are screws holding the panel to the side wall and long bolts hold the switch panel to the consol by removing the hwh panel was able to get under the panel and remove all of the rocker but not able to remove mirror switches today will try something different tomorrow don't know how MCD was able to put rocker in must be something I missed there but will get it done
