Post by: bvectra on April 10, 2020, 06:20:02 pm
not getting the dryer to purge but gauges show enough air one 115 other 150 when idling
just install new governor and rebuilt dryer no purge filters look full of white dust played with the purge assembly remove snap ring and unit would move up and down reinstalled
 any ideas
may take unit off and do a bench test

With those pressure readings you have some kind of problem with the gauges.  They should both read the same pressure (or nearly so) with the engine at idle and no air being used by suspension or leveling system.

There is a air line that runs from the wet tank to the D2 governor.  This line must be clear so the D2 can read the system air pressure.  You might pull it off and be sure it is not plugged up.

CRITICAL: How far into your air system has the desiccant powder gotten? This could be a minor issue or $5000+ problem due to lack of maintenace.

Open the wet tank drain petcock to see if the desiccant powder has progressed past your dryer.

Obscure newspaper comics reference follows:  Unless you're a cockroach typing by jumping on the keys of a manual typewriter, punctuation will make your ideas come through more clearly.

Air dryers age out.

Forum achive reference on the operation of the air dryer purge valve and D-2 governor.

I didn't think that was possible.  Did you know MIT has a humanities department?

"THEY ARE THE MOST UNLIKELY OF FRIENDS: Archy is a cockroach with the soul of a poet, and Mehitabel is an alley cat with a celebrated past — she claims she was Cleopatra in a previous life. Together, cockroach and cat are the foundation of one of the most engaging collections of light poetry to come out of the twentieth century."

""expression is the need of my soul," declares Archy, who labored as a free-verse poet in an earlier incarnation. At night, alone, he dives furiously on the keys of Don Marquis' typewriter to describe a cockroach's view of the world, rich with cynicism and humor. It's difficult enough to operate the typewriter's return bar to get a fresh line of paper; all of Archy's dispatches are written lowercase, and without punctuation, because he is unable to hit both shift and letter keys to produce a capital letter."

You might buy pass the air dryer to eliminate it before you start spending money.
The turbo boost saver valve in mine had a damaged seal and wouldn't let the system build much air pressure.
