I believe the new model will replace it. It also comes with a new brain if you can't find an oem one.

Amazon customer reviews don't give this CB very good marks. They all said that it falls apart in a short amount of time. The CB on my coach doesn't seem to work very well I don't know if it's not hooked up to the antenna anymore or what. But I don't know I questioned the use of it. Who really uses your CB anymore?

We use ours on those long traffic jams.

I just checked our local Facebook Marketplace and there are lots of them listed. $20 is the starting spot for nice looking units with prices going up after that. I would think with the serious situation we have now, there would be less trash talk and more pertinent information like rest stops/rooms, showers, food. Channel 19 has always been a good place to start. How about some OTR trucker input?

We use ours on those long traffic jams.

Google maps can give a great idea of the traffic and speed traps ahead.
Not saying it useless, but didn't hear much comms on our last trip. Usually listening to audiobooks or music anyway.

I like it when there is poor cell reception and it's fun to listen to others at times but nothing like they used to be

Years ago I use to listen to the truckers whenever I traveled the interstates.
Kinda breaks the monotony of driveing long distances on the hiways. But the language used on CH 19 got to the point where it wasn't family appropriate anymore so I turned it off.
Actually, I found it offensive even when traveling alone.

Maybe, hopefully, it's better now. 🙄

It's much better now because nobody's really talking on their CB......... unlike the old days.

Anybody else remember having a fox hunt on Saturday nights?

My CB antenna is broken and if I can find a part I will fix it but it doesn't really matter as in my last rig in five years I only used
it twice. The rest of the time it was quiet.

The only time we turn ours on is when everything comes to a stop on the free way. Some trucker will tell you which lane to be in so you can start maneuvering early and avoid the bunch up at the wreck site,

Ah, the good ole days when I ran a Cobra 21 with a turner 2+2 power mic and a 250 watt bi linear!  Yes, sadly, language has gotten so bad on the air now.  Most truckers don't use 19 anymore!  Ours works, but like others have mentioned, only use it now when coming to a complete stop on the interstate to see what lane to merge into!

I wish mine still worked. There is nobody up here that will work on them anymore. It doesn't make a sound. I think its the coax cable, Im not willing to take the headliner down to check.

Ah yes Joe, the good old days. In late 70's had a President Grant AM/ SSB. Had it worked over and had 20 channels above the 40 and 20 below. Also a slider so I could go between channels. 165 watt class AB linear and an MFJ speech processor / compressor. Used to go up in the Oakland hills and look out over the bay toward San Francisco.Whatever channel I chose I OWNED. Got my ham ticket and never looked back. Have a CB handheld but only use it when traveling as a group. Sure had a lot of fun.
