Title: Ice Maker
Post by: Kennyb on April 24, 2020, 07:41:17 pm
Can anyone tell me where the valve is to shut off the waterline to the ice machine? I just noticed a leak coming from under the ice maker

Ours was/is  under the sink where it is tied into the water filter.

Look for a small brass valve that has two 1/4" plastic lines coming off it. I take everything out from under sink, lay on my back and inch up into the sink cabinet with flashlight. Should be able to turn the T handle by hand. That's the way my 1998 is set up.

Kenny, If it is the original valve Deon't be surprised if it leaks when you shut it off .  I would just replace it with a small 1/4 turn ball valve.

Take the front grille off under the ice maker. There is a hose fitting ( actual garden hose fitting ) attached to the ice maker water supply. Mine was leaking there and took 5 minuets to tighten up. Can't hurt to take a look.

It's what makes a Foretravel special.  Foretravel went the extra length to install a shutoff.  Finding it is part of the Foretravel allure.

Just finished adding a cut off valve to ice maker. Put it in quarter inch plastic line going from filter down under shelf in sink. Used Sharkbite fitting. One minute job. Found the fitting on Ace Hardware website. My garden hose type fitting at ice maker was leaking . Replaced it but not tested yet. My ice maker works great.

Just shut off the water filter under the sink. That feeds the ice maker and water spout on the sink. Lift up the handle on the top of the filter.

There's another shutoff already installed-the solenoid valve behind refrig access panel on outside.  Turning off icemaker should shut off water to icemkr.
