Title: Documentation
Post by: ohsonew on May 26, 2020, 04:50:44 pm
In another thead, I've been documenting my rebuild of my Aqua Hot. When researching what it would take, several of the previous guru's stressed documenting with tags/photo's etc everything as it came apart. I did and I'm so glad I took their advice. When I put things back together, the blower fans all ran even though the thermostat was turned off. Long story short, after much researching, help from Rudy Leggett and going back and carefully checking my photo's I realized that I had wired the relay contacts incorrectly. Easy fix. Moved 3 sets of wires and all is well.

The reason for this post is to emphasize the importance of documentation when taking on a really large project. My mistake was simple enough, but caused me a lot of worrying what was wrong till I took the time to think about it and search for the problem. My thanks again to all who went before me and to all who helped and encouraged me with this rebuild. It's almost over, and on to the next items.

Absolutely believe you always take pictures, document how it comes apart, any issues etc.  I have been taking things apart and putting them back together for almost 35 years professionally and I still do that exact same thing.

Pictures also allow for cool bragging rights later in life!
