Hya all, has anyone ever took one of these locks out before, it's baffling me if you look at photo there are two little notches and that piece turns until it is not connected to the barrel, why won't the barrel just push out, I need to get at the back of it to secure one of the wires that came out I managed to push it back in ages ago cause I gave up trying and thought will come back to this job at a later date I can't get my head in far enough to see the back of the switch, is the barrel connected to the dash with another sort of securing device, I'm thinking of getting a mirror rigged up in behind with a light, any suggestions
Follow this thread. After the barrel is pulled out you can unscrew the bezel and the switch will fall out the back.

Does the battery have to be disconnected to do this?
To go along with TexHub's video, here's the link from Barry's site on replacing the whole switch.

Replacing Foretravel Ignition Switch (http://beamalarm.com/Documents/replacing_foretravel_ignition_switch.html)
Changing the lock cylinder is just like turning the key to acc. no reason to disconnect the battery unless you are going to leave it in that position for a long time and are worried about battery drain. If you are familiar with the switch you can use a screwdriver and turn it off and later turn it back on again to install the cylinder.
Hello, thanks a lot for all advice and video, been a great help cheers
