Title: Relocate Aqua-hot register
Post by: Dan & Annie on June 07, 2020, 06:36:37 am
Want to remove sofa to make room for a TV-lift cabinet in our new-to-us '98 U295. Sofa has Aqua-hot register built in. See picture. I assume the hoses are anti-freeze or some-such. Is this correct? Any advice or things to watch out for moving this register? Is this a pressurized system?

Dan,
Welcome to the group.
1. Yes
2. When the unit is at temp yes.

Dan,  Turn diesel burner and electric element off and allow heater to cool.  You can speed this up by running hot water facuet till water is cool.  Then use hose pinch pliers to pinch the two heater hoses to the fan coil.  Disconnect the hoses noting which hose goes to each connection and and power wires.  Move fan coil to new location.  Reconnect the hoses, wires, remove pinch pliers and you are done.  You will need a few paper towels to catch a cup or two of antifreeze.

The wires and hoses can be extended to suit just reconnect to same connections.

If the hoses are old and stiff clamping them might crack them.  Rudy is the guru and he does these all the time so he knows.  There are specific hose clamps made that have wider jaws. Might be worth it to pick up 2?

Thanks for the help guys. Sounds simple enough. I don't have pinch pliers but I see them at Harbor Freight here (https://www.harborfreight.com/radiator-hose-pinch-off-pliers-99704.html).

Those are the ones I used on pinching the Aquahot Fuel lines off. They should work fine on your project.

I'm just starting to do the same thing. But I have a new 49" Samsung TV and I have this triangle table in the way with a an outlet under it...UGH
