Good Morning,
WOW! It is my turn to have everything go wrong that can just before a short trip to Crysical Beach, TX. Now I have the drivers side rear jack that is up(horizonial), but the jack cylinder is fully extended. The control pad shows that the left rear jack is not down. I have tried all the buttons with no luck. What do I do next? Any Ideas?
Old pump motor is still running good after repair to brushes.
Pat,
Pat,
You can manually relieve the pressure to that jack by opening the "T" handle on the HWH manifold behind the front driver's side grill.
Then you might manually swing the kick-down jack to vertical a couple of times to make sure it is OK.
Hi Brett,
Thanks for the response. Which "T-handle" there are 4. What makes the jack swing down? The cylinder is fully extended and I can swing the jack down and up easly. It is free to move.
No idea which handle it is. Should be able to eliminate the front two by tracing the lines to the front jacks.
Have not experienced full jack extension without kicking down. A puzzler.
Call the HWH tech support people, they are very helpful. (563-724-3396). Have a great day ---- Fritz
Thanks Fritz for the response and phone number. I found a manual and the LR jack "T-handle" from the tank end is the right most handle. I tried to turn it and like always it BROKE off. So I will go to the beach on friday and no worry about it until next week. Just thinking, which is cheaper repair/overhaul old pump unit or buy a new/rebuilt unit?
Pat,
My '81 has a small jack that pushes the big jack vertical Don't know if HWH changed the system.
Those solenoid valves are replaceable. You could also loosen that line and let the pressure bleed off.
I had a similar experience and cured it just by cycling the system, starting with retracting the jacks and then starting over.
Is your problem that the jack cylinder refuses to retract? Or is your problem that the jack refuses to kick down into place?
Hi ToolMaker,
My problem is the jack cylinder is fully extended. The jack cylinder is horizontal. The jack is free and I can pull it down and when I let go it returns to the horizontal position. The fully retracted/up position the jack is at a slight angle, the jack now is horizontal.
I tried to turn the "T-handle" on the pump and the little "T-handle" broke off.
Pat,
The third pic is of the jack on the other side.
Pat,
Worse case for returning it to the stowed position is to crack open the hydraulic line.
But sure want to know how it did that??
On my '81 if both jacks are down and I lower one of them without the other the one I left alone will pop up like that.
But,. on the 1995, when the jacks are stowed, even if it was extended and horizontal, it would/should stow.
Mine will stow after I release the one that popped up. Or go vertical again if I pressurize it.
The jacks have small tip down cylinders to set them vertical. There should be small switches on the ends of the small struts to allow the main jacks to add fluid after the strut hits the vertical switch .
There is a stack of control solenoids behind the main pump that runs a all of this .
The jacks are retracted by the large springs if the solenoids open and release the pressure. Holding the horizontal button should release the pressure in both the small and large cylinders and return them to parked position.
It is possible that the small T valves turn in Clockwise to release , instead of CCW. Wiggle gently. Spray.
Just an update:
I loosened the hydraulic hose at the jack. Nothing happened. So I pulled down on the jack and as it lowered the fluid ran out and the jack cylinder retracked. Tried the system again and all seems to be normal. I don't have a clue what happened.
Pat,
