What the correct cap for an 8.3? It's a 97 325 hp. Thanks.

Probably anything from 10# to 15#.  With our steel reserve tank, it will be no problem running 15# as is recommended by Cummins.

A side note, when I bought my FT, I thought my cap was bad, and replaced it with a new cap from Napa auto parts.  Turned out, I found a bad hose connecting metal reserve tank to plastic overflow tank.  Thus it would draw in air, instead of coolent, when cooling and heating, dropping the reserve tank level, making me think the cap was bad.  Probably good now to replace this line. What is the lbs. marked now on your current cap?

Monaco use to recommend 13# on their poly tank.  Other brand rvs with plastic overflow tanks often ran 8#.

Take old cap to auto parts store, or truck supply store, where they can test it for you, tell you if it is releasing at the pressure stamped on the cap.

That NAPA number should be the correct one.

Thanks, guys. I'm ordering the NAPA cap and will check my hoses. My cap does not have the pressure indicated where you usually see it.
