Title: Captains chairs
Post by: Journey, Roam, Explore on June 14, 2020, 10:01:51 pm
Purchased a pair of  Villa captains chairs from Mike Ramirez a few months ago. Had to many projects to install them but today finally did.  I chose to replace rather than recover since they were a mismatched set, very wide and deep and were 20 years old. I went with Villa due to a higher quality of chair, and the available options they had.
Very happy I did.  Mike a as good re at to work with and heartedly recommend him. Tell him I referred you if you call him.
RV Furniture from Villa International (http://mike@villainternational.com)

They were expensive. I had them done in distressed Brisas ultraleather, two toned to match my ultraleather dash. Came out fantastic.
6 way power base. Turntable.  Heat and massage. They are quite comfortable. The massage is a vibration in 3 zones. 2 level heat.
Don't look for them on their website. You have to email or call.  Their website is dated.

Bought a lot of furniture from mike long ago as a country coach dealer mid 90's.  We upgraded our intrigues from Flexsteel to Villa.  Tile floors.  Wooden full surround valence boxes.

Roger no shoulder harness.  Villa will not do it on a coach that didn't come from the factory that way. Think I saved 1400 buck or something like that not getting them although its what I wanted.

Our Villa chairs in the 2001 have shoulder belts, that is why I asked. Your chairs look nice.  We had new foam put in ours.  They feel good.  A long day for us is 6 hours, really long day > 8.  In the 5-7 months we travel each year we average less than 40 miles a day, 6-8K miles.  This year would have been closer to 12-13K but summer plans changed.

These look great, its one of our projects too. I'm not sure if we could do the same as yours as we have integrated seat belts. We're these over $4k?

Bob,
Nice chairs.  We have the the Villas in our coach and would like to restuff them and recover.  Don't know how that compares to buying new chairs.

Roger,

Is 40 miles a day what you meant to say?

Thanks, I spoke to them today. I had been in their plant in Elkhart a few years ago for warranty work. The big gotcha is will the bolt patterns line up (on Integrated seats)

Mike said if that does not line up he can't sell the seats because of liability.

I need to measure and send him the pattern. He did have another good idea and said if the bolt pattern lines up,  go find a nice coach nearby, like a Tiffen, Newmar etc, Find one that you like, take pics, and he'll build it. That's pretty cool

I've also got to see what it would cost to have the Flexsteel's recovered. and find a few of the plastic cover pieces for the switches that were broken when we purchased it. The existing seats are starting to crack on the top.

Years ago I found a couple nice take out seats with shoulder belts out of a new Monaco Dynasty, and wanted to install them in my older Monaco Signature Crown Royale.  Looking into the install, they had a different bolt pattern, 5 bolts instead of 4, spacing just enough different to not work.  I found an ability assist van converter willing to do the install, with insurance to cover his liability. At that time, thought cost to move seats slightly, drill five new holes, and mount a matching steel plate from below to reinforce, too expensive, plus the necessary logistics and time to complete, I did not have.  Now retired, no problem.  f

Villa might be real busy right now.  Flexsteel exited the RV business:  Flexsteel Announces Exit from RV Furniture Business - RVBusiness - Breaking... (http://rvbusiness.com/flexsteel-announces-exit-from-rv-furniture-business/#:~:text=Flexsteel%20Industries%20Inc.%20is%20discontinuing,its%20third%2Dquarter%20financial%20report).
That's going to leave a big gap in the market.

I ordered new Flexsteel front chairs from Bradd and Hall on March 3.  Not long after that the plant closed for covid.  But in early May Bradd and Hall called to tell me the Flexsteel plant was closing permanately but not before completing existing orders, including mine.  My seats are due in about a week.

Looking at their website it appears Bradd and Hall is starting their own brand of chairs: http://www.braddandhall.com/ProductCart/pc/viewCategories.asp?idCategory=122
I believe the Flexsteel chairs you see on on their website now are just existing inventory.

my pilot seat had a 10X8 inch and co_pilot had a 10X10 inch. I dri)ed new holes and filled the old ones with thickened epoxy.
5800 delivered.  For those that want to know. Expensive yes but think what buying a newer Foretravel with better seats would cost.?...
Wifi where I'm at is not allowing me to upload pics.
