About an hour ago I heard one of the most beautiful sounds I have heard in almost 2.5 months!!
All the pain of getting up and down repeatedly on this damn sore hip replacement and knee made the sound even better!!
I dropped the oil pan guard, removed all the cables going to the solenoid/bendix on the starter (TWICE!!), took three showers in hand cleaner, bought a new solenoid/bendix from NAPA--only $35.00
Second time I removed the solenoid/bendix I had to file off a burr I created on the inside where the actuator for the starter gear engagement is supposed to slide easily. (It doesn't when a certain rectum tried to force the solenoid/bendix on because the copper grounding bracket wouldn't come off, so the solenoid/bendix went on crooked until the bracket was cleared.) What a PITA!!
Put everything back together this morning, went in to the coach, sat down in the driver's seat, said a little prayer (Please God, in Your Son's Name, let the coach start this time) Guess what? He must have heard me!! The engine started so fast I never heard the starter engage!! Prayer does work!!
What a beautiful sound that engine made!! Happy and content!! ^.^d
I guess that 31 year old 8.2 didn't get the message that it was a throw-away engine. You've got a beautiful coach.
nitehawk, it truly IS a beautiful sound! I did a lot of that "oh Lord, please" all winter long in firing up the old girl every 2 weeks in sub zero temps & running all her systems for a couple of hours.....then soon as she started up, I'd say "thank God she's a Foretravel!" (I have said this for nearly 7 years already, & I cannot tell you how many times I've said it!)
....delighted to hear this news, now get going and plan a short trip or two close to home, just to get that 'bug' going again!
Going to Big EuPleine CG over the 4th (my birthday, The 2nd is Marys BD, June 28th is a great grandson's 12th BD).
The granddaughter, her husband, and the three G-grandsons will be camping with us, but in their tent.
