Title: Power to Winegard satellite dish
Post by: Rocky1down on June 22, 2020, 10:18:31 pm
When we picked up our 1995 U300 in California in February, we noticed it had a winguard satellite dish on top and a direct tv box hooked up under the front tv
It was a repossession so didn't come with any manuals or instructions.
On the trip back to Ohio I couldn't get cable to play on the TV when campgrounds had it.
I tried hooking up a direct tv receiver from inside my house tonight but it can't find a signal.
I don't know which way to set the switches inside to power the Winegard and also don't know which way to set the switches to use cable. Any ideas? Thanks, Susan

Do you have the Winegard control box?  Is it seeking and finding all its satellites?  Are you selecting the TV source using the TV menu?

Is it the Winegard Traveler?  If so you need to be sure it's looking for and finding the correct satellites for your area of the country.  The satellites it found should display on the controls box when it locates them.  I only know about Dish so can't help on what satellites you are looking for in your area.

BTW you have a beautiful coach.

We removed our old inoperative antique satellite dish.  We stream all our video from online sources using our 4G hotspot.

Caveat: Since your coach is a '95 model it may be completely different from ours.

I can't answer your question, but I will mention that there are two OEM switch panels that originally controlled the video routing in our coach.  One is in the bedroom on the wall next to door.  The other one is on the side of the overhead cabinet above and behind the driver's head.

I didn't notice the one up front for a long time.

Just mentioning this in case it has anything to do with your problem?

Also, the OEM video distribution box in our coach is located under a lift-up panel in the closet floor.  See photos below.

The direct tv box that was in the coach when we bought it is from 2008, so it might be something they added later. I guess I need to see if there is a switch somewhere to send power to the dish.
I found the switch in the bedroom and also the one on the cabinet behind the drivers seat, but those are the ones original to the coach that switch between antenna, vcr, and cable.
