When we purchased our coach, the dometic portable fridge/freezer 12 volt was missing that is found in the bay of the coach. My question is this: what size is this product that is in the U320 coaches and if you have one, would you buy it a second time? We need to get a separate unit for extra storage, as our residential is running out of room. I am thinking this would go in the first bay on our 2000. Thanks in advance for your help on this.
I don't think the freezer/ fridge unit is original equipment in a Foretravel. I had one in each of my last twc coaches. They were Dometic two way, 12v D.C. and 120v, AC. I believe they were described as 100 pound units. They worked well and did what I required, that is stored frozen meals that my wife prepared prior to each trip. Now I have a smaller Dometic combination unit in my Sprinter and it does the same chore quite efficiently. There is apparently a more sophisticated, more expensive foreign device about which I know nothing.
For what it is worth, the sale brochure lists the 100 units as an option, so it is possible some added at the time of original purchase. Mine has one, but not sure if original or added afterwards.
Thank you both, as I see that it was an option. I guess I need to know if it is worth the price to purchase this over another unit?
We recently purchased the larger Dometic refrigerator freezer. Fit nicely in basement of our 2002 U320. Amazing how fast the temp drops when you plug it in. Nice luxury add on.
Is it the 100 unit? Lowest price I found was $1189 and it won't fit in the second bay. Not wide enough. Must be set in the wider bay for sure. Going to take some rearranging for sure! lol Thanks all for your input.
I found the Engle freezer/ refer the Best Buy and it does so much better. My opinion Jim
No doubt there are more sophisticated units available now, but my old Dometic is still working great away after 24 years.
I asked the same question over at irv2.
General concensus was people like them
and use them. They liked that when they found
deals on meat or other frozen items they
xcould stock up. fishing good at a place well stock up..etc...most would replace them
if needed. they are not cheap.
We have a Whynter 45QT unit .......great price and its been running 24/7 for over a year
Have 75 qt Donetic works great though first failed but they replaced no questions.
Looked at Engle which had good recommendations but cost much more back when we bought about five years ago
