Title: Uline ice maker issue
Post by: "Irish" on July 03, 2020, 12:25:50 pm
Our uline Icemaker has decided that it does not want to stop making ice. Called uline and they said it needs a new ice maker unit.
Went on line and while regular refrigerator units are $60 to $90 the uline is in the $300 range. A bit pricy!
Has anyone had this problem and fixed it?

If you take the front cover off (just pops off) you will see a bunch of gears and an adjustment screw that changes the size of the cube. Run that screw in and back out a couple of times. It could be something hung in it to keep it from shutting off water to the freezing tray..... Will it shut down when you turn the switch off? Just an after thought. Hope this helps.

I was able to find a new old stock heating element I'll dig around and see if I can find it.

We replaced this 3 years ago and since then it runs like it's brand new.

Jeff
They said it was the switch on the ice full bar, think the heater is working because the cubes come out of the slots without a problem
Thanks
David

That switch is pretty much a standard micro-switch, and it's a really finicky adjustment.

WORKING FOR THE MOMENT
No idea if it was the four wheelers suggestion of changing the ice size, John44's offering his ice maker for sale, or Jeff and Sandys heating element, either way for 24 hours it has worked perfectly after a back and forth adjustment to the ice size screw, some muttering under my breath and good luck!
Hopefully it will continue to work and if not I will be back for more advice Or John44's phone number.
Thanks all

Just saw this David, and it brought back my Uline adventure. Had problems with ours, and found a discarded unit in the dumpster at the Grand Canyon. Took it back to the bus (over objections of the wife), rebuilt the unit and it works to the day.

Good luck with yours, and happy 4th!

Len

Take icemaker out, put a wood door over opening and you will have a GREAT new large storage space. A couple of small ice cube trays in freezer work very well and are a better use of limited space in our motorhomes.

Before mine was fixed I considered pulling it out and replacing it with a temp/Rh controlled humidor. :+)
