Title: Leveling compressor
Post by: dimitris on July 04, 2020, 04:15:33 pm
Hi to everyone.
2003 u320 leveling system wasn't working so i went under and see the compressor don't come on.
I almost got new compressor thank god i didn't.I took it a part and replaced the brushes and then boom works great.
Please note bus only has <8400> miles and no way it would been used that much.
Here is the problem...
The relay that starts the compressor is very hot to touch even when bus is not on.
The valve that is on the fist air dryer  type part its also very hot to touch, i took it a part but the magnet is not strong enough to close the airway ...
So if anyone knows something about i would really  appreciate the help
God bless

ALSO thank you for the spell check it helps me out

Hi dimitris,

That compressor should not be running continuously. Its primary function is the slide seals, it isnt big enough to fill the brake tanks. I would let it cool down.
What do your dash air gauges read?  For leveling you will need the brake tanks pressured up. Pictures help.
