Title: Dash a/c
Post by: kb0zke on July 05, 2020, 10:19:47 pm
We're the third owners of this coach, and the people we bought it from were close friends of the original owners. We were told that the dash a/c never worked from new, even with a factory rebuild under warranty. I tried it a couple of times, and it didn't work. Today it was cool enough to start with that we didn't have the roof a/c on. As it got a bit warmer (and we were climbing) I turned on the dash a/c thinking that it would at least blow some air around. Both of us were shocked to feel cool air coming out of the vents! Never did need to turn on the roof a/c today.

Will it work next time? Who knows. Why did it work today? Who knows. I'm just happy it did work once.

Well, it was nice while it lasted. Took off this morning with the dash air on, but it wasn't long before there was no more cool air. Oh well.

My dash A/C was working but the other day with it on I was having my voltage dropping from 13.8V down to about 12.6V.I turned the A/C off and voltage came back up to 13.6V.
Anyone have ideas what to check or ideas what is causing it?
Thanks for the help
Ron

If the unit cools sometimes and sometimes not, most likely an electrical problem. See if you are getting voltage at the compressor and work back from there, thermostat, low pressure cut out switch, push button on the AC controls.............

Might be an easy fix,  ;D

In my case it was the condenser fan motor. It was kicking the circuit breaker on and off also.

The problem which caused my intermittent A/C operation came down to a loose connection for the condenser fan motor.  On my coach there is a panel which contains relays, fuses and connections for the dash A/C condenser and compressor.  The panel is located on the forward bulkhead of the engine compartment, accessed from inside the coach beneath the bed.  The connection which I ultimately found to be loose was totally hidden behind wires on this panel.  Simply cleaning and tightening this connection solved a very long standing and frustrating problem.

Thanks for all the suggestions I will get started on it as soon as the rain stops.

John and Shara Wilkerson pulled in yesterday in his 2004 U295. He sure has a good shiny paint job on it.
