Can anyone give me the part number or specifications for the large capacitor on the roof air
Thanks
Chris
Chris,
All the info is printed on the capacitor you just have to understand the lingo. That is a duel capacitor 10/20 uf (microfarad) 370 VAC. Nothing special here is the first on that popped up. Search around for the best deal at places like Digi-Key, Allied, Amazon, or even eBay
Mike
Thanks mike I've been looking for that but haven't connected thought if someone had a part number it might go better. I'll keep looking
Chris
Chris,
Just bought two of these from supply house. Their SKU # is CAP-20/10/440R. They were $4.75 a piece.
Hope this helps and Safe Travels!!
Tracy
Mike And Tracy, I found company called Supplyhouse.com bought 2 caps (front will be next) for 4.50 each and 4.95 shipping way cheaper than eBay or amazon at least what I could find!
Chris
Thanks Tracy
Just looked at some the other day, find a place that sells your brand of AC and they probably have capacitors too.
Here is our log:
preventative change original start & run capacitors and PTCR resistor in each roof A/C.
All are Dometic parts:
Start: 3100236.219, looks same as original.
Run:3100248.453, new metal can design, same diameter & little shorter.
PTCR (positive temperature coefficient resistoor) looks same as original.
Remove 4 bolts A/C shroud, remove 2 bolts electrical compartment cover, remove 2 bolts to lift out capacitor bracket with all 3 parts."
Chris very good preventative maintenance changing them. Did you find out the size of the start capacitor? Would be good to change at the same time.
Barry you mention the PTCR also. Have no idea what that is but if they too should be considered to have a service life then I want to change them too. I'll put them on the "honey do list"

Curious - What is the service life of these components listed above. Start/Run Capacitors and Resistor.
Also if this is required as part of maintenance. Does it just make more sense to install a Micro Air Easy Start or other "Soft Start" instead? Please answer if you have installed one of these kits.

I'm assuming it's a hard start component. Has a capacitor in it. Doesn't appear to be a resistor. Being's it has a capacitor. It would have a service life/end. Hopefully someone more versed than us can lead us the correct direction. Also FYI two run and two start capacitors delivered were $26 from them
