When we are parked in the barn, Beasty is in the middle stall. If we use the nearest 50 amp plug, we have to lay the shore cord in front of the neighbors 5'er. This lends it self to him possibly running over the cord going in or out. I also don't trust him to unplug properly. My RV tech and I measured and a 30 ft cord can be plugged into the next receptacle and brought behind the neighbors fifth wheel. My problem is who makes a good cord, that is decently priced, Say 100-150 dollars?
Any help will be appreciated.
I purchased the 15 ft Campco cord and it has held up well over the last 5 months and that is moving every 2-3 weeks no issues. Here is a 30 ft version on Amazon.

A non-elegant solution would to have a board on either side of your cable. If the barn is dedicated to RV's and it's an actual barn (dirt floors) perhaps a trench just wide and deep enough so the cord doesn't take the full weight of the 5'er.
Does the 5'er owner constantly pull the rig in and out? Or is it occasionally?
I like the idea of running your cord behind so no possibility of running over it.
No, chance of a trench, concrete floor. We have gotten away with it being in front, because we usually hit the road early, but due to Covid and my dH's health, we have had to stay home. Neighbor goes in and out on short trips. Will check out both suggestion. Thanks
You could check on Grainger or Mcmaster for cable cover protectors. Some of these might be designed for larger cables and be able to be rolled over. Not sure if they would be cheaper than an extension cord.
We have a 50 amp 50 ft cord from Amazon. It was $135 from their warehouse, an open box sort of thing. I was sure if I got a 30 ft cord we would have needed 31 ft.
Are ya sure that you need 50 amp in storage? What are you running?
I use a 100 ft 12 ga extension cord for storage. Runs the baby refer and the small ac
I was thinking the same thing. When I park on the street at the house before or after a trip. I run power to the coach from a standard house outlet in the garage using a very heavy duty 50Ft cord. I have had no cord heating issues when running the Xantrex charger on the house batteries. But I do make sure and only run one thing at a time. After the batteries are on float I then turn on the Norcold and the trickle charger for the chassis batteries.
A word of caution when ordering a cord off the internet. I ordered an "advertised" 50 amp cord with 50 amp ends but had # 10 wire so be sure that the cord you order has #6 wire.
Just my 2 cents

Check Amazon for a Contek 30 foot 50 amp cord, just got one, great wire but you have to install one of the ends, was $104,fine strand
wire.
Suggestion. Take plug off a cord or make one up from #6 wire. Thread through 10' of black iron pipe. Re-attach end. Neighbor can then run over it all he wants.

Thanks every one, I went with the Camco. It will work for us and we can also take it with us. I appreciate all of your help and great suggestions. Stay safe and if you are in Texas, stay cool. Linda
Do you have the locking end that plugs into the coach?
The Camco does not look like it has that type of end.
Lon and Cheryl,
Thanks for your concern about the Camco extension. But we will plug the regular shore cord male section into that female section on the Camco. This will give us enough length to place the cord safely behind our neighbors 5'ers wheels and be able to plug into the 50 amp receptacle. This will enable him to come and go and I will not have to worry about him running over the cord or unplugging it and not plugging it back in. Linda
