Title: 2000 u320 slide room won't retractI
Post by: red tractor on July 18, 2020, 09:23:52 am
I am working on a u320 single slide. The room will extend, but not retract. I have called HWH 2 weeks ago but have not heard back from them yet. I have checked pump pressure and it is what it should be, the 3000 pressure switch is good. The question that I have now is on the limit switch status box. It  is showing that the room is out and all locking pins are unlocked, but the red 3 amp fuse led is not lit. Is that red led supposed to be lit. I can not find any where in the information that I have when that led should be lit. I get a red led on the 76 led when the retract switch is pushed, but not the yellow led. There is no 12 volts on the 76 terminal when the retract is pushed so am not getting 12 volts to the retract solenoid. I have checked the retract solenoid and it checks good. Right now I am stuck waiting on HWH  Thanks for any help. Ron

We have the same system. Earlier this year, I corrected a couple other issues not related to your problem. I'll check the 3A fuse LED on ours, tomorrow, and let you know if it's lit. Most systems have the LED in parallel with the fuse so when the fuse is good, the LED is not lit. (red = opened fuse)

On our schematic, terminal #76 is the room unlock solenoid. If that solenoid is not energized at the beginning of the room retract sequence, there will be no pressure switch signal to the control box, even if all the locks are unlocked. The system requires all of the yellow unlock LEDs to be lit, AND a signal from the pressure switch, in order to continue the room in sequence (energize the room in solenoid) Since your #76 red LED is on, and your yellow is off, I would check the 10A fuse for the #76 terminal. Also, did you check the solenoid coil with an ohm meter, or by applying 12V? If the solenoid coil is partially shorted it could operate on unfused 12V, but draw enough current to open the 10A fuse. I don't know the spec on that solenoid but, doing the math, I would guess the impedance should be around 150 Ohms, minimum.

I used a 7.5 amp fuse to jump solenoid with no problem. I read you must operate unlock and retract at same time. I had no power anywhere. Once retracted I operated lock solenoid. Not the correct way but worked out for me. Also must keep in mind bladder. Mine was/is also damaged. suspect lightning discharge damaged slide computer, level computer, Engine ECM

Checked this AM, the red 3A fuse LED on the status box should be off. The wording in the manual is a bit vague.
This is what it reads for the control box. (No mention if this applies to the switch status box) :

"NOTE: YELLOW LED'S " " INDICATE ENERGIZED COIL ON
OUTPUT RELAYS. RED LED'S " " INDICATE OUTPUT FROM
OUTPUT RELAYS THROUGH FUSE. SINGLE RED LED'S
INDICATE EITHER ACTIVE OUTPUT OR INPUT."

Based on this, and what I found this AM, I think it's safe to assume (hate that word) that a lit red LED indicates that fuse is open.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies. I made a mistake when I said 76 should have said 78. I just checked and when the retract is pushed the unlock solenoid is activated. All the fuses checked good and If power is put to the retract solenoid it operates. I think that the control box is bad. All the unlock lights are lit. Waiting on HWH now 2 weeks.

Ron,

Yeah, it sound's like it could be a bad control box.

I know ours had been repaired by HWH, some time prior to our ownership. It has a HWH service tag on it.

For the life of me can't locate 3 Amp fuse. Where is it's exact location

that sounds like my box when the boards became a bit lose and touched the steel top and shorted out the 50 amp fuse that was in the wire tied loom.  They had to replace that fuse and put rubber on the panel and had the boards rebuilt at HWH

I don't think that I ever put the solution to this. Finally HWH called and talking to them and troubleshooting, found that they rocker switch was bad on the retract side of the switch. Replaced the switch and now all good.
