Title: 88 Grand Villa U280 Chassis, Drivetrain, Brake Details/Spec's Resource
Post by: len.barron on September 02, 2020, 01:46:14 pm
I'd like to educate myself on the 1988 U280 28000lbs Foretravel chassis; brake configuration, differential details, frame design, steering/suspension details, etc... What is the best resource for that? For example if I wanted to do brake service on the coach I'm buying, where would I find detailed parts info for that?
Thanks
Len

Len each Coach built originally comes with a set of books with about every part sourced to build it. In the books are catalogs of axles, rear ends, transmission, brake systems, etc. Hopefully they are still with the coach you look at. Ask about them. Otherwise plenty of us hsve this information also and can pass it along too you if needed.
Also this link here will take you to the holy grail of Foretravel information  You can look at the original brochures etc

Registered on that site earlier today...much appreciated. Owner has the "full stack" so I'll have it in hard copy. I was trying to see if there was much published online about the Foretravel built chassis, there really isn't much out there, there is a bit on the Oshkosh 917 chassis, but, even that is pretty thin..

Body is the chassis.  Semi monocoque.
