I been quite busy but finally finished the Headlight upgrade today. Took out in street and adjusted close. Went up to the Old Boulder City airport hanger and walked of 55 yards. Adjusted closer. Went out and drove , too hi. Readjusted too low. Got home and adjusted up. Should be close. Will fine tune as I go. Very little light leakage above two feet out 1/4 mile. So far quite happy with them. WAY BETTER THAN STOCK. Still mounted too low but I'll run what I brung. Hi beam lots of good light. Was more concerned about setting low beam. Pictures show low,hi, hi and aux light, head on show no glare on low beam.

Scott, THAT'S the way low beam headlights should light up a road!!!  Congrats.

DavidS you need to drop by one of these nights, we'll run down to the dam. They really work well with little oncoming traffic glare

Speaking of lights. Does anyone use the ICC switch?

I put led bulbs in my Ford headlights and for me they work great but not so much for the person coming toward me. I'm in the
process of putting in the Kenworth, Freightliner etc. headlights like David did.

I will.. Mine is newer style but I bought the projectors and they suck.. Terrible .. just all around. Think I might pull them apart and swap the projectors in them.

The ones I'm using are too big to fit in your lens, but they do make smaller ones. Think my projectors are three inches wide and possibly longer. There big.

Oldguy if your lens has prisms in it, (it probably does) any light you add will be out of focus.

No prisms. Now anything you put in them should have a fair chance of working. I think the engineer added them as a patch for a pathetic reflector. I just ordered and received my second set to install in center position. Stock bulbs only for aesthetics. I'll know soon if the reflectors work at all but I don't really care.either way. I'm usually purely function over form but the old center lights just looked terrible. Even considered just painting them white. They will all match soon.

Speaking of lights. Does anyone use the ICC switch?

The Interstate Commerce Commission no longer exists, but the ICC name lives on in all these older vehicles with the switch labeled thus.

I use mine as it was intended-- to momentarily flash the marker and clearance lights as a thank you after another driver clears me back into the lane after a pass or vis a versa. I find a fair number of truckers will still do so. So yes I do especially if there's oncoming traffic and somebody's passing me.

Scott, nice job and great write up, I think it might be clear enough than I can perhaps do it my self!  Question folks here have also used a led replacement bulb, and have some good results.  Do you think the use of the projector bulb gives you better range on high beam, and better coverage on low beam?  The reason I ask is I need a high beam that will reach out and touch some one.  I live in deer country and it is not if, but how many have you hit.  (2 for me 3 for Judy)  So need a long reach.

Thanks Chuckd

This is were this all started to see if it's something you want to take on. I'd recommend seeing lights in operation. My #1 concern is performance while not creating glare to oncoming traffic. IMO unless is a matched setup it will fail the glare test. Yes lots of super bright led replacement bulbs but very few performing correctly not to offend everyone but the driver. Please don't be that driver.

Scott, I have been looking at most of the options on the forum and first saw your original post from 7 months ago.  So I have burned up a lot of band width looking at these options, and not being close to Texas, yours looks like the most light for the buck.  I agree with being cognizant of all the appropriate regulations for these lights, and I have been blinded at times by after market lights on trucks etc, that are nowhere near compliant.  So thanks for your thoughts on this.  Chuckd  95  U295C

Hopefully several of the light conversations performed by different members can be viewed at Q for a hands on comparison. I hope/plan to be there. Good fun.

Finished installing replacement center faux high beam lights. They do function but as stock bulbs add nothing noticeable. But they are real pretty, IMO  officially off the list.
