Title: Speedometer and Tachometer are not working.
Post by: Mike and Jenn on September 22, 2020, 05:28:50 pm
When I drove the MH the first time the speedometer worked erratically. The tachometer never worked. Now neither is working. I have power to my gauges. My manual says that it could be the compressor. I can't locate any kind of compressor around the transmission. The only thing I see is what I believe to be a speed sensor on the tail shaft, the wires go back to the side of the transmission.

Any ideas on where this mystery compressor maybe located? Or any ideas on the reason for no tach or speedo?

Both gauges may be bad.  No compressor involved.

The common connection between these two is the ignition solenoid.  I would check it to be sure that all is well there before replacing gages.  I have replaced my solenoid to correct this same situation,  but mine included other gages and finnaly they all quit working.  Have a great day ----  Fritz

Check the ground wires from each. They might be green and go to a stud.  Snug it and maybe they will come alive. If both have power of course.

 I used a GPS speedo . works nice.  80$

I put a volt meter on the signal wire. It is reading a steady 12.9 volts with no variation throttling up or down.
