I'm seriously thinking of swapping out our OEM starter for a gear reduction unit. Looking on the Delco Remy website supposedly shows the starter for a M11 450HP at around $450.
My service center quoted starter with install at $1200+. Am I looking at the correct starter? Or am I missing something?
Using the Forum SEARCH tool, I found this recent entry:

A new gear reduction starter turns the engine over a bit slower but with more power (torque) from the starter will less battery load. I replace mine last summer. Chuck's link is the same one I put on. Labor price is way out of line if this is the price for the starter.
I cant' find the ticket for mine, but it seems like it was around $300 two years ago. I also spent another$100 +/- on tools I didn't have. If you can get the coach raised up and have a good work place, it isn't real bad to change.. It has a difficult bolt on top to get to and is HEAVY. The new one is a lot lighter. I've got a write up on what I went thru in the search.

This looks to be the cheapest one available at this time.

Thanks Chuck, I had a meeting to go to, didn't have time.

Thanks everyone for input. I'm unable to install myself so will show this to my service people and go from there. Thanks again
750.00 for install is 600.00 high. It's heavy but not 750 bucks heavy.
Just replaced mine with Red Tractor's help, he did all the work, I helped lower and raise into place. Took about 1hr. -- 45m trying to get the bolts broke loose and 15m for the swap out.
I cleaned the ground wires all around and it spins like a top now, very pleased with it.
