97 8.3 mechanical
Anyone have a part number for the coolant thermostats? Thanks.

My 97 Cummins 325 hp thermostat is 3913028. This part number is from Cummins Quickserve, online, picture off my phone below.. Up to date part numbers for your particular Cummins. Add engine serial number, ESN, and you are ready to go.
"The engine data plate is on top of the timing gear cover, just below the air conditioner pump. Since we have a rear-engine MH, the data plate is upside-down when viewed from the access door.
I found the best way to read everything was to simply take a picture of the data-plate, then just rotate the camera/cell-phone so it is readable. Another upside is, I now have that picture permanently stored for future reference."
Since this will be a summer 2021 maintenance, I will update then if Cummins site showing only one thermostat is accurate or not. They have never been wrong in the past for me, this is my third Cummins mechanical 8.3.
on my 98 325 mechanical thermostat part number from cummins was 3913028
thermostat gasket 3913032
thermostat housing gasket 3913025
Thanks, guys. The book shows two thermostats. Did your 8.3s have two? Pretty sure our setup is identical. Thanks.

Yes 2 thermostats
One last question. Other than Cummins, what is a good source. I checked online and the prices seem to be all over the place. Thanks.

Check Ebay. Cummins wants about $100/ea. Here is a source for about $24/ea delivered: CUMMINS 3913028 THERMOSTAT NEW | eBay (https://www.ebay.com/itm/CUMMINS-3913028-THERMOSTAT-NEW/123364097211?hash=item1cb912bcbb:g:l3oAAOSwiGlfLqGI)
Pierce
Napa is way cheaper then Cummins
My 98 U270 is equipped with a a 1997 325 hp C8.3. Though many references including my engine manual from Cummins showed two thermostats, mine had one and the part numbers matched the previous two posts. If you follow Jack's reply #1 you would be in good shape to do a replacement. Mine required a seal, thermostat gasket and a thermostat housing gasket, each purchased separately under a unique part number. Cummins Quick Serve was my friend. Also took a picture of the serial number. I went with all OEM parts. When you remove thermostat housing that would be good time to replace shut off valve for coolant filter. There is an improved coolant valve but they also stock the nylon valve. I accidentally got the old valve.
Is the 3913028 a 180 degree?
Yes 3913028 is a 180 F thermostat, also sometimes listed as 83 C.
