Title: Coach not leveling
Post by: dbennett9 on September 25, 2020, 12:54:43 pm
On our 2004 U-270, when we park and try to level the coach automatically, the indicator light immediately shows level, even though the coach is clearly not level. None of the yellow lights that show the coach is out of level ever come on. We can level the coach manually, but the yellow indicator lights do not come on then either. The system was working until a few weeks ago. I tried searching the forum, but did not find anything about this problem. Does anyone have experience with this problem or any suggestions on what to look for?

Maybe something bumped the level  bubbles under the sink?

The first thing to do is check your manual, as we did when we had a similar problem.  They talk about being able to adjust your leveling mechanism (ours is located under the kitchen drawers (but we have a mid entry).  It is about the size of a hockey puck and is black.  Are you losing air as well or is it just what you described?

First find out if you HAVE a level sensor.
When we bought our coach a previous owner threw away this vacuum hose and attachments because he couldn't find a vacuum sweeper to go with the parts.
I noticed right away that we had a built-in vacuum. :))

FYI

Somewhere around the '03/04 time frame HWH got away from the old tried and true hockey puck level thing.  They moved the level indicator down in the basement in one of those square boxes with the clear cover. This one has pendulum kind of thing and a different way to adjust.

So Dave which level indicator does your coach have?

Thanks for all the input. Since the coach was leveling previously, I assume I have a level sensor, but so far I have not located it. The manual has no mention of adjusting it. I have no noticeable air leak; when I hit the Air button the second time, the indicator light immediately shows level and it seems to stay in the same position unless I manually level it. If I manually level it, it seems to hold that position as well.

You might check the connections on the cable that connects the level sensor and the HWH computer.
The sensor is probably within six feet of the computer.

My guess is that it would be under the floor of a bottom cabinet.  You might contact FT with your build number and they should be able to help you.

Thanks. I will do that on Monday. It sounds better than taking things apart when I'm not sure where it is.

As Mike says, the level sensor in a 2003/2004 is a circuit board inside one of the clear HWH "tackle boxes" that's in a basement bay.  Has indicator lights on it.  It is not the round thing older coaches have under sinks or sofas or in cabinets.  You *can* retrain it, but since it's in an area that wouldn't get bumped, it's unusual for it to get out of calibration.
