Title: Re:Hot Water Electric Heating Element Control Thermostat
Post by: muskyman475 on October 02, 2020, 06:40:04 pm
Anyone familiar with the electric heating element control thermostat? I had hot water with no issues a week ago. I left coach for 7 days and returned. Turned on 110 heat switch at 1 am, green light comes on as usual so I went to bed figuring it will be toasty warm for morning.  At 4 am it was in the mid 30s I was kind of cold so I turned the furnace on ( not Aquahot) and the furnace never warmed up it was blowing cool air.  I then turned on my hot water to see if it ever warmed up and it too was cold. I am assuming the electric element has failed.  Is there any other item I need to check? Everything appears to be functioning properly except no warmth?

There is a reset button you push in with a pencil or something similar. If that doesn't do it, they come out with a quarter turn and pull, although yours look screwed in. The button appears on the lower left thermostat. 2 are for electric and 2 are for propane.

They make them adjustable also. You pick the heat setting on the dial and they are resettable .. not sure if these are but I found the others for my aquahot

Ok, well I guess that may have been it? I hope? All appears to working again. I will turn the dial a tad hotter if need be I am going to monitor for the rest of the evening.

Thank u and I had forgotten about that reset button.

There are 2 AC disc thermostats on the Aquahot, wired in series.  One is a self resetting disc and the other is a non-resettable type.  I had the same symptoms and the non-resettable one had failed open.  I ordered both thermostats from AH and replaced the failed non-resettable and within a few weeks, it too had failed.  Replaced it with the self-resetting disc and it's been working flawlessly for 2 years.  I know it's not the way AH (or OSHA) wanted it but I'm not basement diving every other week either.  If someone has a better solution, please fire away.  Woody.

Not enough heat from ac in the 30's.  My diesel switch was off at 30 degrees  last night.  Fans never stopped blowing.  Barely warm air.  Flipped the diesel switch on and 15 minutes later the fans turned off

Well, 2 hours later and the hot water is not hot it seemed like it was warming up earlier but not. I turned the heat setting dial up and still no difference. I guess I will order both electric side thermostats. I checked continuity on all four thermostats and they all appears to be where they should at just about zero?

Call Rudy.  He'll get the right parts to you quick, and same or less cost than AH direct.  Rudy is our AH guru...support him faithfully.

Sorry about my reply. I thought you said you did not have Aquahot.

Twig, I may have spoken out of turn as well.  Thought all U320's were standard with aqua hot?

Yes Rudy has assisted me plenty and I will call him if I cannot find an answer. Trying not to bother him over the weekend. My Diesel side is currently apart and hopefully going back in this week. I put new bearings, fuel pump, nozzle etc and was trying to locate someone with fuel pressure gauge that would allow to check for 145 psi. Everyone local here has 100 psi gauge. Pretty much struck out so almost to the point of punting and hoping fuel pressure was preset close to the 145 mark and install it
