Have 1998 U270 series. Due optional tires sizes impact steering? Original size was 275/80R 22.5. What I have now is 295/75R 22.5.
No, a little wider but the same diameter. Note the aspect ratio from a 80 to 75 so that offsets the 275 to 295. The difference is one revolution per mile on paper but the the real world, manufacturers very slightly between each other and even between tires of their own brand.

Some owners experience rubbing on the air bag lower support, usually without serious problems.
While I have had the metal end of the air bag occasionally touched and slightly polished, I don't ever recall any problems, minor or serious. Your "usually" would indicate otherwise and add and element of doubt to the mounting of 295/75R22.5 instead of 275/80R22.5.

I looked at the dimensions on this tire comparator and on the with is only 0.8 wider and you have to divide that so in reality it is 0.4. If you are polishing the airbag bracket you might look and see if you have steering stops you can adjust. I think you might find more variance between tires in a batch.

Bill
Bill,
The polishing only occurs at unusual attitudes and not in a normal turn. Ours seems to touch with the coach leaned over a little like in tight turns in campgrounds. Never a trace of noise or vibration. I was checking tire diameters/revolutions per mile and different models of the tire within the same manufacturer are different. H load ratings seem to be slightly larger plus air pressure will cause the tire to grow as the pressure is increased.
