Does anyone have a good source for a Turbocharger heat jacket to fit the turbo on DD6V92?
Thanks to all who respond.
As I remember, it's a T6. Here are a bunch. Get the wrap too. t6 turbo blanket | eBay (https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313&_nkw=t6+turbo+blanket&_sacat=0)

Will do, Pierce. Thanks!
Update: I found the T6 jacket and the blower wrap on Ebay.
Randall--FYI-- you may already know this but just in case-- Wear rubber gloves when you put the wrap on, or if you wear cloth gloves throw them away when you are done. First one I wrapped I didn't wear gloves--took 2 days to get through that misery.

Does 'holding the heat in' by using a heat blanket affect the turbo in any way?
As long as you have good oil circulation there should not be a problem
Chris
Thanks Chris.
The leading cause of turbo failure and possible engine failure is heat sink in the engine and turbo. If you shut down immediately after pulling up a grade, the heat of the turbo and engine combine to try and refine the oil and cause the oil to "coke." The solid product can block the oil supply or return line and cause turbo bearing as well as turbo seal failure.
With seal failure or over pressure in the turbo from return line blockage, the oil will then be forced into both sides of the turbo where the engine will ingest some while the hot side will go out the exhaust as smoke that we see on racetracks. It will also allow the turbo vanes to touch the body of the turbo and everything from aluminum dust to small parts of the vanes will be ingested.
Here is a real world example. I almost bought a VW flatbed with an 8.3 Cummins in it. The turbo had failed, cooked the seals, the oil was consumed by the engine, the EGTs went really high and two pistons had holes burned though the piston crown.
So, fast idle the engine at around 1000 rpm for at least one minute before shutting down if the engine has been pulling hard. The oil temperature will take 3x as long to drop as the coolant temperature.
Synthetic oil will not coke so if running Amsoil or other synthetics, this does not apply. Synthetic is a little too expensive for our Detroit as I like to change once a year. Old habits die hard, but I run Mobil 1 in the generator.
Here is a good article from the German company Mahle, perhaps the leading piston and parts manufacture in the world: https://www.mahle-aftermarket.com/media/local-media-north-america/pdfs-&-thumbnails/catalogs-and-literature/turbochargers/turbo-damage-brochure-mo-2-612.pdf

Got a new Summit racing catalog today. They show a few things that we can use. T6 turbo for 600$. Cummins exhaust manifold. Various fuel line options . Charge coolers, intercoolers. etc. Exhaust resonator/mufflers.
Summit stands behind their products as we received some black frame paint that was solid in the can. Called them and they had a fresh one to us the next day. No questions asked or return of the faulty one.
A lot of people use Eastwood for their supplies. They sell a lot of paint and powercoating products.

Good point about the gloves Chris. Thanks.
