Title: Part# or brand name needed - 1993 U300GV: AC Compressor
Post by: Jeff & Sandy on November 05, 2020, 02:30:11 pm
Hello all,

Both fan belts on my AC Compressor broke so I assumed they aged out. When I went to replace them today I realized that the compressor seized. It won't turn at all.

Does anyone happen to know the brand or part number?

We looked everywhere and cannot find nothing on the unit. We found a sticker but the info has faded away.

Thanks all,

Jeff

In 2007 I replaced mine and converted it to 134A.  Here's some photos.
I installed a new dryer too.

One more question. Does anyone have info on the dryer? Isn't the dryer up front? I know I have to replace it as well.

Jeff, when I replaced my compressor, I also replaced the receiver dryer and the expansion valve.  One was under the dash, in the center, by the heater box.  I had to take out the center console to get to it.  The other was on the drivers side back near the battery isolator.

On a Grand Villa it's up front, passengers side, behind grill.
Sorry, I don't have a P/N , nor can I see one.  IIRC, I just matched it from the old.  I remember having a choice between one with a sight glass and without.
From reading about them (back then) R134A systems don't use a sight glass; charging requires use of gauge pressures only.  Despite that I choose a windowed unit and figured it wouldn't hurt.  I do like being able to see the liquid flow when I do check it each season.
