Title: Diesel Kleen or Hot Shot’s Secret EDT?
Post by: Tom Lang on November 11, 2020, 02:42:59 pm
I've been using Diesel Kleen fuel additive as recommended by Cummins. I'm about to order more, and am considering Hot Shot EDT instead as it's more concentrated and cheaper, plus good for my Jeep Ecodiesel egr and dpf plus other emissions items not on my Foretravel.

Which one is best for a 2003 isl400?

The other night I watched PROJECT FARM on YouTube. He tested several Diesel additives and 2cycle oil as a Diesel additive (Amsol).
The Hot Shot scored very well, so did the 2cycle oil used as an additive.

In 50 years of driving diesels, never felt the need to add stuff to the fuel tank. The exception being FPPF anti gel in the big truck back and refer tank in the 70s in the winter, and biocide in the FT. just my humble opinion. As always DWMYFG.

Ive always used diesel kleeen, tried opti-lube xpd (found sludge in the bottom of the bottle, never ordered again) and recently started using the hotshot EDT. I dump 48oz into each 700 gal tankful in my boat and 12oz into each 120 gal tankful in the rv. Used my first gallon this summer, noticed no difference but hopefully its cheap insurance to help the injection components and fuel pump last longer.

I'm loving the performance of the opti-lube xpd but it's not as cheap. Called the company in Utah and very helpful and explained their product to me. I can feel it and have started using in my Cummins pickup with the same great results

Like to throw this out there into the mix. Those of us running Detroit Diesels ( 6V92 ) etc. , are you guys running any additives? Should I be?

I use the diesel kleen cetane boost in season and the stabilizer when the coach is parked for the winter. We used to put castrol R in the race hauler when we'd had a good day scrambling but that was just so we could smell it's distinctive odor, we use bel-ray synthetic in the bikes.
