Title: Basement heat
Post by: oldmattb on November 15, 2020, 12:15:35 pm
In one of my bays.  Is this the thermostat for the bay heater via Aqua Hot?  Is it independent of my two heater zones and bathroom wall thermostat?

Yes, that controls the bay, it will activate the bathroom pump but not the bathroom fan.

The thermostat has no "off" setting just a minimum of about zero.  So if you winterize your coach for cold weather storage and there will be no heat in the AH system and if it gets below the thermostat setting the zone pump and wet bay heat exchanger fans will come on.  And they might be on for weeks.

To prevent this get a three wire connector plug, a flat four wire trailer wiring connector works fine,  and splice it into the three wires coming out of the thermostat making sure to keep the right wires connecting in the plug.  You can cut off the ground wire ground wire from the two sides of the plug.  The ground connector makes it easy to reconnect correctly.

Roger,

Thank you for another pearl of knowledge.  I had never thought about that situation.

Good advice.  Here in Tucson, we leave the RV heater on for one or two nights a year.  Those brutal winter nights are up to 50 degrees by 10AM!

We are roasting now near freezing during the day and 20s at night.  AH electric is on in the coach while we get ready to head south. Coach is at 45, basement is 47-50.  My battery bay is at 50°.  No added heat.

Thanks all!  We are parked where lows are right around freezing.  I have verified my basement setting to be at 40 degrees.
