Title: Replacement Shocks
Post by: Familyrig on December 03, 2020, 12:58:40 pm
Looking at replacing our shocks and I wanted to confirm I am ordering the correct ones.  The current shocks on our coach are orange & look possibly original.  We have been using the coach quite a bit over the last two years and hoping to take away some of the jarring ride from our wonderful CA roads.  Shockwarehouse.com shows "Koni Gold FSD" part #8805 1010 at a price of #167.57 each, shipping included.  The directory only shows my U280 from 1996 on & previous years U225 & U240.  Our coach is a 1994 U280.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

David

Search for posts by Hans and Marjet. Hans just posted about replacing his shocks and airbags on his GV.

Thank you.  That is the confirmation I was looking for.  The website made it a little confusing.

I read your report earlier this morning & was curious what kind of a difference it made in your ride.  That is good to hear you like them.  I am still weighing out all options & trying to arrange for my local shop to replace all 8 airbags and shocks at the same time.

That is good to hear.  It seems like I feel every little crack or road variation in our rig.  Something I don't feel at all in our truck or van.  I have played around with tire pressure & now it is shock & airbag time.

@stump Thanks again for the great info.

I was debating about changing the shocks with the air spring at the same time.
The koni shock cost about 167*8=$1336
The Gabriel 89407 used by stump only cost $38.85*8=$310.80 on amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Gabriel-89407-GasSLX-Adjustable-Absorber/dp/B004K838YI).
That is a much better price.

@stump  can you confirm the one listed on amazon is the one you installed?

Seems like Amazon price is way cheaper than other places
