I have been toying with flat towing my 2000 Ford F-350 4x4 Super Duty Diesel behind our GV 3600 250 Cat. I really think I may be biting off more than Ole Furry can chew. The dually is pretty heavy, but, In an emergency situation, believe it or not, I pulled it home on a tow dolly behind my 09 Lincoln MKX 3,5 v-6 on the interstate at 55 to 60 mph. The Lincoln was a little short on braking capacity, but....... Whatcha all think? I see mentioned that there are some out there pulling comparable SD's, so, ?
There is some previous discussion on the forum if you search on Oshkosh towing or Oshkosh GCWR. Here is one post regarding a 300 Cat-equipped '89 Toads (https://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=35011.msg325564#msg325564)
and some other info Advice for future Foretravel Owner needed (https://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=19822.msg141688#msg141688)
You may need to contact Foretravel to get the GCWR and hitch rating for your coach. Either can be a gating factor.
Sure it will pull it. It only weighs at least 7800 lbs with some variations going up near 10k. You will be overweight, you possible could be stopped and requested to drive both separately, but if your ever in a accident and someone as smart as the insurance company finds out you were operating beyond your GCWR they may cry that you were operating illegally and be open to being sued personally for damages. I'm not saying I've never Not towed overweight, but I would never do it knowingly anymore. To much to risk for me. I'm also older than I was making poor choices. Also you won't have Brakes or gear that will meet load requirements in a crisis. But I'm sure it will pull it. This was the exact reason I worked myself into the GCWR corner and keep looking for higher tow capacity coaches. Lots of nice Pre 1998 coaches out there but they are tow weight limited till 1999 Going up to 10k. Wish they made a 2005 320 36 footer. 18k would be nice. Too much money!!!
