Title: Winegard Motor Jammed
Post by: amos.harrison on January 01, 2021, 09:15:21 am
My daughter Jennifer has started her new career as a travel nurse at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix.  On arrival at the RV park she'll be staying in for the next three months, She actuated the Winegard control box to deploy the dish.  A few seconds into the process she heard a grinding noise and got the "motor jammed" message.  I'm two hours away and can go there this morning with my tools.  I haven't found any search results here, but did find some old posts on IRV2.  Does anyone have any recent relevant experience?  If I take the dish assembly apart will I find anything I can fix or do we have to order parts?  Several years ago it seems Winegard would ship a motor and ask you to send the old part back.  Now they want you to send the whole base back for them to repair and return after several weeks for a lot of money.  Thoughts?

Brett;  I would give them a call.  They are super good to work with.  We had to get a new set of wires that go to the LNB's and they shipped for free in 3 days!  Not sure about the motor issue.  I would climb up top and see if a screw has come loose and jammed the arm first!  Good luck and Happy New Year!

Winegard's solution-ship the entire turret back to them(big shipping expense).  For $300 they will perform the repair and return it. The control box must be included so they can perform a software update.

I had the turret fail on my coach, thankfully it was still under warranty so all I had to do was ship the faulty unit back in the box they supplied. The replacement was easy.
Here is lesson I learned- Mine failed when I was deploying it with generator running, and not really thinking about it, I switched over to shore power mid way thru the deployment process. The turret stopped working at that point. Although Winegard said that should not have caused the failure, I now always deploy or retract from shore power only, or generator only

Mine was two months past the two year warranty when the turret failed.  We're still talking to Winegard.
