Not sure about you, but I dislike ... nay, despise, the pull down shade at the front door. It never goes up straight, wrinkles when it does go up and worst of all it blocks the door from opening when I impatiently wish to exit or enter.
As a solution I pulled it off the "roller", picked up a pack of 1.26" neodymium magnets (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B8PWRJ1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) from Amazon and stitched 8 of them into the edges of the vinyl curtain. Next, I super glued 8 to the corresponding locations on the screen door frame... then realized I'd gotten the poles flipped backwards on a few of the magnets - oops, lol gotta pay closer attention to the marks I put on the North poles ;-). When it was all done it worked just how I'd hoped. Instead of rolling up, it now folds in a pleated manner and hangs from the uppermost magnets. Or it can be removed entirely and stored in a cabinet.
If you line up the magnets right, you can adjust how far it hangs down too.
The most challenging part was sewing the magnets into the heavy vinyl fabric as they would lift the bobbin up and cause the sewing machine to jam anytime the magnet got close to the left side of the needle.
I might use a little spray paint so they match the door frame but they work and look decent as is.
Eventually we may make a new curtain, but for now we used what was in the coach.
I'm also considering doing the same thing to make wheel covers over the wheel wells - they'd be easy to install/remove.
Aloha, Tim
I see you are thinking outside the box once more! Great idea!
I had the same issue. Crazy not to mount the shade on the door!
I looked up my old post, Geez, that was back in 2011!

I picked up a bunch of the magnets and am finding them to be very handy ... just got to keep the stack of 40 away from the computer and electronics ;-)
