Anyone installed Lift pump on M11. Considering installing Fass 165 gallon per hour pump and filters. Replacing lines and thinking might as well do it. If you've done where is best place to mount for ease of access and avoiding problems with diesel spills and clean up
The M11 on the 01 U320 is an fully electronic ISM450. Why do you think that the ISM450 needs a lift pump? Woody.
Fass pump constantly polishes fuel and removes air from fuel. Better burn ,mpg less wear on injectors and more power?
2002 ISL 400 cap system very easy installation as my fuel tank inlet line were readily available. Installed a electronic fuel pressure gauge in the dash to monitor fuel pressure
The Picture shown was just my test ,since then have rewired using the correct connectors and proper wire . Idling pressure 18 psi under full load acceleration falls to 12 psi very happy with the results as I stated earlier this is for an 2002 ISL 400
Is the Fass lift pump meant to replace a failed pump in the CAP$ injector pump assembly?
I'm using it in conjunction with the factory pump. A lot of information on how the first stage of the injector pump on the caps system at times was in adequate to supply fuel during heavy acceleration and heavy load ,plus trying to suck fuel 20feet away

So in reading about the installation they state that warranty must be thru a approved installer.
Also that the return line needs a dedicated port and not to use the existing return fuel line.
I do like the systems, but am concerned about how you plan the additional return line.
Fuel polishing is a great idea, removal of air too. I wonder how much air is in our fuel to start with? I doubt there is very much other that fuel returning to the fuel tank.
Do you plan to run the coolant lines as mentioned to heat fuel, and how much additional heat will this add to a already heat burdened system? May be able to use during winter months but summer time would be good to bypass? Or are they using coolant line for cooling of the pump? Which would mean even more heat and would require engine coolant cooling for pump operation. I do have a fuel minder after the first filter and it does draw about half scale Vacuum during operation with a new filter. Same as before line change. Definitely more than I prefer. Positive pressure makes sense to me.

I gather that you did not touch lift pump but only just cut the main fuel line for engine and put the pump in line. So, you now have a lift pump(for30 secs only on start up) and this new pump both supplying fuel at that same start up time.
If this is correct would there not be any conflict between them?
I am going to install a Fass pump just in case at some time so your answer would be interesting. This seems an easy install compared to Dons install a few months ago

Yes I left everything stock and just added the pump remove the Aeroquip fitting from the tank and added the pump directly to the tank fitting to push the fuel to the engine since my coach originally equipped with a fuel cooler I left everything as is I have not seen any problem driving in 100+ degree temperature in Houston.
Don't quote me on this ,but I believe there must be some sort of pressure sensor that judges the fuel pressure that activates the lift pump when I turn my key on my fass pump starts and I hear the lift pump for may be one or two seconds now and it turns off
John, not sure but when key is on your pump is on. What you hear at first is pump priming then it gets quieter while running. Dont know if straight lift pump is different than the filtered set up. But the one on my dodge runs with switch. This is the system that I'm considering
Spider, the lift pump provides fuel to pressure up then shuts off and the pump in injector pump unit takes over and does the supply of fuel, literally sucking the fuel the length of supply line from tank. I feel the reason one of main issues with the injector unit after many years breaks down to be an expensive repair due to mainly this job it performs, ie sucking the fuel for thousands of hours.
Don is very well atuned to what goes wrong I think, and he does many hours of checking and thinking before he actually gets down to changing anything from OEM.

The Fass System I'm considering filters and continually pumps 185 gph
@opelgt327 do you have a part number for the pump you used?
I wound up doing too much other stuff and blew through budget on higher priorities. Moved down my list. Call Fass industries and they will advise. It will require thought on mounting location
On 2002 U 270 very easy to get to fuel tank fittings ,But I have the Caps System
What fuel pressure are you running on the Fass pump
So a question to all involved in this discussion again. Is the lift pump not touched and all that was done is mount the Fass pump and connect it to supply side from tank to the main feed line. If so this is a simple job to do. Does the model shown in picture work on the 8.3 350 which at that rate of flow mentioned it would supply plenty of fuel.
If I where to do something like this, I think I would mount the pump on the other side of the primary filter. Don't know if I want pressured fuel line in my bays! Thoughts???
I agree Bruce I think I would mount it just before the primary filter
Good morning: I believe fuel pump made to pump fuel. Idle pressure 18.5 ,full load pressure 12 psi Have electric fuel pressure gauge in the dash with high/ low alarm settings. Any leak would be detected almost instantly. On my first test fuel was leaking from primary fuel filter which would have gone undetected if not pressurized very slow leak pressure gauge picked leak up. Never changed anything with the return line removed to see flow looked good reinstalled. So far have gone 3000 miles no problem , engine feels stronger with quicker response 2002 U270 36' ISL 400 Caps with 131.000 miles 🎈
Bruce, If I remember coĆrectly your original thought was to mount one at tank as you pulled the hose around the frame of tank wall so you had a connection point.? I guess the thought of pressuring lines thru the bays may change this.
I am sure Don mounted his by tank and I actually was thinking a while ago would the push on hoses we used have any problems with the 18lb pressures the pump produces in lines?? Would hate to have a leak at one of those connections for sure. I gather that having a pressured line compared to a vacuum line was one of your concerns.

What pump would I use for the M11
John, I just don't think I want pressure on the lines through the bay. I wouldn't worry about the push on fittings at all. With Capps system the original lift pump cuts off, so I would think the transfer pump even at very low pressure would deliver more than enough volume for the Capps pump. Under a heavy load the Silverleaf shows 14.5 gph
You would have to know where the silver leaf is picking up their pressure I believe that line under vacuum or close to it How could that pump suck 20 ' away with pressure . Maybe 1st stage pump discharge.
One more thought that I have ,if your Aeroquip fuel hose is similar to what I have it's rated for 200 psi. The pump that I'm using was originally designed for the 1998 to 2002 Cummins with the 5.9 and after a lot of research Fass decided that there was a need for the pump the instructions say to put it as close to the gas tank as possible so that's what I decided to do . I believe adding a pump anywhere Has to be better than trying to suck the fuel . Can't wait till I retire so I can sit around the campfire and we all can talk about this 🇺🇸
So Bruce reading those gph what pressure would deliver say 20gph. Can any experts figure that one out as to give a close idea of pressure.
This would then make me consider install of fass pump without worrying about touching that lift pump.

I'm considering Fass pump. I would put it a just before the pre filter as at the tank would now be hard. If I was doing it when I changed
the fuel lines it would be easy to put it at the tank. What size pump would work on an M11
Sooooo...has anyone done a complete system install (pump/with filters) and willing to share the details?
I have read in great detail about it being done on many other RV's, just not on a Foretravel. Our unique central tank with no filler hoses (direct welded filler bungs) sort of complicates the return line part, a litle bit.
Why do you want to do this?
Several reasons
1 main fuel pump not pulling fuel threw screen, secondary filter hoses and primary filter
2 air removed from fuel makes it atomize better
3 fuel that is stripped of air operates at higher pressure
4 fuel system works as it was intended
5 no possibility of air leaks into fuel system problematic with them.
6 improved fuel recirculating causing improved fuel cooling for the ECM threw the fuel cooler plate.
