Title: My Prosine bites dust
Post by: Tom Lang on January 06, 2021, 03:04:38 pm
My 2003 coach is in the shop for a few things.  Just got the call that my Prosine 2500 inverter charger has died and is not responding to resets. Looks like a replacement is in order.

I don't know the health of the house batteries, but they were allowed to run down. They might need replacement or upgrade too.

What is the best replacement?

Also,I want to keep the remote panel and offer it up on the forum.

Thanks

The Prosine will not charge dead batteries. The batteries need to have some charge in them. It may not be bad.

Tom, if the inverter is still working you could add a smart charger to supplement it.

There are a variety of options. I chose A Victron Multiplus for performance, efficiency, warranty, integration and price.  Some like Magnum.  Do the homework.  If you need to change batteries I suggest you consider LiFePO4 batteries.  They are the most cost effective choice if you are going to keep your coach.  Their performance exceeds any AGM or GEL choice. There was a recent video link. I suggest you watch it.  Lots of techno-babble. Look for the results.
