We signed up for the May Grand Villa Reunion at FOT a month or two ago and were told about ten others had already signed up. Just curious who else might be going and if anyone had an updated count of attendees.
We would really like to attend, but will wait until closer to the date to ascertain the status of the pandemic. If the virus is still raging through the populace, and especially if it continues to mutate, then we will pass. Jeannie and I are both in the "over 65" high risk group.
Have they decided on the cost? When I last checked with Beverly (Motorcade Club) it was still up in the air.
We're going.
We paid $200 but don't have any information on additional cost. Hope you can make it.
We'd like to go but it depends on the pandemic. We are high risk.
Yesterday was a Big day for my husband and me. Went to the Tampa RV show and purchased a Realm which we pick up at Foretravel sometime in April. Have waited so long for this. Could someone share with me what the Grand Villa Reunion is.
ValleyGirl, welcome to the "family" of owners! Welcome!
The Grand Villa Reunion is a rally or gathering for the special interest in Grand Villa style Foretravels. You don't have to have a Grand Villa to attend, it is just the focus of the meeting. We love an excuse to get together!
Congrats on the new-to-you coach! If you are not already, consider becoming a Motorcade Club member. Details on the club page at the factory website. GV Reunion is one of the planned events in 2021:

My Bride and I want to be there, but my Bride is diabetic and we're both over 65, for me a while back, so, we are going to watch and wait..... Really want to attend, though.....
Really interested!
Hope I can get my 91 GV back to acceptable condition by then. Has to change the air bag and shock for sure.
I think most of the GV owner's are retried.
Not sure how many owners are still in working age not retired.
Michael, are you guys attending? Caravan ;D
Really looking forward to becoming part
Of the Foretravel family. Thanks for the info I will check out additional information on becoming a member
Count me as working age I hit 40 last September. Between having a 5 year old, time off and fuel required to attend I cannot make such an event however it's great to see the amount of grand villa owners past and present who are available here to guide others.
Kicking this thread back up to the top. Since Jeannie and I have now received both Pfizer shots, we are taking another look at perhaps attending the GV Reunion (May 27-29 at FOT). FORETRAVEL (http://www.foretravel.com/motorcade-club#news-events)
It is still 2 months out - hopefully there will be more clarity on the status of the pandemic in the upcoming months. Right now, travel to large group social events still seems kinda iffy (at least for us frail old codgers).
Any deposit ($200 in this case) sent in now to hold a reservation will probably be non-refundable, so there's that to consider.
How about a show of hands. Who has already signed up to attend, and who is seriously considering doing so?
We're in....
We've paid the deposit and also scheduled services at Foretravel for the 17th.
We're in, deposit paid.
Beverly told the DW there were 11 signed up as of last week. (or something like that)
It's open to all Foretravel owners.
Really want to go, however right at 1900 miles one way. DW and little doggie going to need some convincing. Anyone on the west coast thinking of making the trip?
We are still considering it.
Steve.
We are planning to be there ( deposit paid ) and will be heading back to Salem Or via Phoenix and Pahahump Nv. 2500 + miles.
We are considering it. Lots of irons in the fire so will make a close to game day decision.
see ya
ken
Easy to understand some folks hesitations and limitations on attending.
One thought to add into the equation is the fact that this could be a "one and only" event (hope not).
As said before, you don't have to have a GV to attend, it's open to all.
See ya'll there!
Is it a Motorcade Club event? If so, there is likely a requirement to be a member.
Unusual case here, in that they are allowing non club members to attend IF they own a GV. Last sentence in the description of the event:
(If you are a Grand Villa owner, you don't have to be a Motorcade Club member to attend this reunion)See the "Read More" button under the Reunion event notice: FORETRAVEL (http://www.foretravel.com/motorcade-club#news-events)
We will probably be there but have yet to see a schedule posted
Here is part of what we have received. As it states, more info to follow.
One & only .... Nah. Come fall, we probably will find a way to lure some of you down by the lake ;)
Anymore info on the event? We are still up in the air about going as we are both facing some surgery ( one of the so called golden years situations to "look forward" to).
Request for those coming to the GV Reunion.
If you have a DDEC II (Detroit Diesel) cartridge for the MPSI and time to school me on it, please bring it.
Have the reader in hand, just not the cartridge, yet.
Really hoping to increase my limited knowledge during this trip.
Thanks
Frank
Frank,
Here is a link to the Pro-Link 9000 manual with more information than the user manual that comes with it: Section 1 HOW TO USE THIS BOOK (http://trucktractor6x4.tpub.com/TM-9-2320-363-20-1/css/TM-9-2320-363-20-1_303.htm)
This is page 285 and can be seen in white on the top right hand corner of the page. 286 will be the next page traveling right with the pages you have already read in red.
It might take a little time but you could do a partial screen capture of the page and assemble a manual this way. This link shows how to do it on a Mac. Advantage is that if you print out the pages, they will be larger and easier to read than the regular user manual. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201361 Print shops can assemble with a nice cover, etc.
Once you have the cartridge, you will have fast idle capability. The cruise control will not do it on a 6V-92TA Detroit as the low end torque will overpower the brakes. It warns you twice to make sure the transmission is in neutral before engaging the fast idle sequence.
What is not in the manual is the boost and fuel pump pressure. At sea level the Pro-Link should show about 28.5 psi for boost at about 60 psi of fuel pressure at 2100 rpm.
For all Detroit 6V-92TA operators, here is a DOT publication from a test done by the U.S. Coast Guard back in 1994. It's long but has lots of interesting details and graphs. It should be noted that the prop shaft HP is different than brake HP. It would appear that both engines are DDEC with approx 535 hp each. https://apps.dtic.mil/dtic/tr/fulltext/u2/a295538.pdf Some of the graphs horizontal but printed in portrait mode so would have to be copied and then rotated to easily read them.
Pierce
Thanks Pierce!
Read, practical exercise in NAC (I hope), then reread.
That's the way my grey matter absorbs info best.
I win....
First coach to arrive at Foretravel for the reunion. Ok, I'm a week early but we're scheduled to get some stuff done and I wanted plenty of time if needed.
Not sure if the other GV is here for that, he just got here.
Looks LONELY back at Mecca.
A few other coaches looking east but not a single Foretravel sitting on the lot for sale. ( one Monaco for sale)
I don't believe they sell new or used at the factory anymore. Any new ones there are just off the line and haven't been shipped to the sales lot yet.
Keith
Yep, no new coaches sitting out any more. If you want to see a new one need to take the tour of the factory and will get to walk in some of the ones under construction. Or go to MHSRV or one of the other companies that now sell them.
Talked to Beverly K today. She mentioned that the first factory tour since COVID will be during the GV reunion next week. Tours will become regular after that.
We'll be there on Wednesday
Don't own a GV but interested in learning all about them. We arrived last week for some service, registered to attend the reunion and are parked next to Bob and Sue. Looking forward to meeting the GV "reunion" gang. As of late April, twenty-two coaches were registered.
Where are the pictures? :D
The GV Reunion starts Thursday morning next week. Bob & Sue is the only Grand Villa represented here at FOT, however, there are three U-series (2-320s, 1-270) that I understand will also be attending. Since some are curious, photos below. Few coaches in number but not in fun! The view from my window.
Update- Tim & Shirley McCoy just arrived Grand Villa (last two photos).
If anyone wants to put up a Foreforums window sign, we have a Word document in the Media section available for editing to put in your name or forum handle and printing
Wish I had access to a color printer. Maybe someone who plans to attend but still at home with a printer could print some ForeForum blank copies for those already at FOT to hang in the window.
I'll bring 10 or so copies.
I printed off 10 copies. Available for anyone that wants one.
Great to see that a couple of members will be doing just that!
A number of us hung the signs in our front windows at the 2012 Grandvention in Mineola (ah, the nostalgia of the early days of Foreforums!)
It was great to put all the faces with names; kind of felt like a reunion of old friends you hadn't seen in a while (or in this case, hadn't yet met in person).
As someone once said " Those were the days my friend"
We're on our way, god willing, we'll be there Wednesday. Looking forward to meeting everyone.
For those visiting Nac for the first time, Mike created a mini "tourist" guide that's in the Media section
This is great, thank you for sharing this!!
Harvey Nelson made photo albums at Grandventions and shared them with folks who were there. This is from 2015. Great to look back at familiar faces, some no longer with us, some no longer traveling, many great friends. Thanks for this Harvey.
Maybe someone could do this for this Grand Villa Reunion.
Arrived, spot 26.
Blank Forum window tags are in the laundry room.
Got wind of a Foretravel "swap meet" today with Grand Villa stuff. Can't wait to see what's that's all about.
Could it be that FT is unloading a little inventory or maybe just some one of stuff.
( not trying to start any rumors here)🙄
Is someone going to do it live on facebook?
Not sure. Maybe someone more Facebook savvy will step up.
We made it
Love all the Foretravel's.
You know, back in the early days of the forum, if members met in Nac, they often held an impromptu happy hour, aka "Pourtravel Happy Hour"
Camp Foretravel (https://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=15098.msg90541#msg90541)
(not to be confused with "Poortravel", which is what happens after you drop a few coach bucks to become part of the Nacogdoches Economic Stimulus club...)
Thanks for cooking Ed and Rick, fun times at camp Foretravel.
A few pictures from this morning.
WE NEED TO SET UP A DATE & TIME FOR COACH PICS WITHOUT TOADS IN FRONT OR NEXT TO RV'S
A few more
Good stuff at am registration.
A few things from the "sale".
We sure enjoyed meeting everyone at the Reunion.
Looking forward to seeing many of you again down the road.
That was fun!
How many attendees ??? and GV coaches ??
Here are the attendees
Paul and Paula Runge were there but registered late so they weren't on the printed list.
Great gathering.
